Favourites have went missing?

I have recently installed IE8 I had IE7 and I also had a trojan removed by a computer repairman anyway I no longer have my favourites in the favourites star and I can't seem to be able to save any in there too! The faves do still seem to be in my laptop but it appears possibly reading a little bit about this their location maybe isn't pointed to the right place? Could someone help me with this ultra frustration thanks ever so much genuinely. I have Vista. Take care.

Thanks for your reply they do not appear in my favourites star and I can't save favourites or at least I can but they no longer appear in the faves section in IE8. I have loked on my laptop and the faves are still on my laptop under my name then faves. How do I get them back in the right location I do actually have them also on a disk but have tried importing but can't do it!!! I would really appreciate your help dearly. Thanks. Best wishes.

The trojan has been removed now it's just I want my babies back my favourites! I believe they are not in the location they should be as they are still in the computer. They are no longer listed or located under the favourites star and I when I save any new fave page it doesnt save in there something is ill? Please help genuinely appreciate your time.
