advice on DVD Media

I'm in need of some more media. I only have cash to spend so on-line is out of the question. I usually get lucky and find Memorex on sale when I need it, but it isn't and I'm against paying full price for media. N E Way, that's out of the question. I found fuji DVDs on sale at best buy and wanted to know if anyone had a problem with their stuff. I've thus far ONLY used Memorex, Maxwell and sony, I typed them in order of preference. Please no one tell me there's no difference, because there is and I want to know if I should buy the Fuji discs. Thank you

Check your local OfficeMax, they have a lot of Memorex DVDs on clearance, and they're the 8x discs, too.

I'd be careful about buying Memorex they're usually made by CMC and not very reliable. If you have to purchase a locally then go for Verbatim they're pretty good quality (made by Mitsubishi). If you are patient most on line stores take some alternate form of pay then buy on line and go for Ridata (Ritek brand but made by Ricohjpn). Theyre excellent, I've burned hundreds with no coasters. But if you want to throw away a lot of failed media then go for Memorex.

I beg to differ. Out of the 100's I'd say 300 to be exact, I may have made 5 coasters and they were because I had too much going on on my computer

Well, my wife already picked up my disc at office max, but yeah I hate sony disks and for many reasons, but the biggest is that they say they burn at 8x but when I burn I only get 4.1x. My burner w/ firmware upgrade burns -R at 16x and the memorex burn at about 12x

Staples got Fuji made in japan for less that $10 for a 30 pack. Sorry to tell you this Sophocles but the only resond Memorexs not reliable for you is cause your driver just don't like them.

That's not strictly true. Memorex do have a reputation for poor quality media.

I'm not getting any coasters and BTW drivers have absolutely nothing to do with media compatibility.

Not all batches of Memorex are made by CMC, on occasion they're made by Ricoh which is excellent media but it's a crap shoot buying them because they most often use CMC. CMC/Memorex are cheap poor quality discs period, they don't come any worse because there is no manufacturer that has a worse reputation than CMC magnetics for quality. Even if you get lucky and only have a couple of bad burns remember that they're also noted for failing over time as well. Remember most Memorex is made by CMC magnetics.

Read what others are saying on the net about Memorex.

If you want to find out who made your batch then follow the link below and obtain the manufacturers ID. If it turns out that you have Ricoh then you're lucky and you can start targeting Ricoh made media before buying, but If it's CMC I'd start playing your movies all the way through.

The driver has nothing to do with reading and burning media but the firmware does.

Why shouldn't it be back, it's still a current issue?

NOOOO!!! The democrats took congress!!!

We certainly wouldn't want the Democrats to ruin all the good work that's been done by the Republicans would we.;)

I'm in the military and I appreciate the benefits given to me and don't want them withdrawn because we're "OVERPAID". That's off subject.
