Everyday I get windows telling me there is an update.
So I install it but then it tells me that the update could not be installed. Every other windows update I install works except for that one.
Can someone please help me stop this annoying update (comes up during games all the time :mad:)

If your copy of Windows has not been validated then the "Genuine Advantage Tool" will not install in some cases.

Go here and validate then try the download again

I'm having the same problem with a .NET Framework 2.0 update. The only solution that I'm getting from MS is that I have to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 totally, run a cleanup tool, and then reinstall .NET Framework 2.0 from scratch, then try to update again.

The last time I tried to uninstall .NET 2.0, I ended up having to reformat and reinstall Windows! No thank you!:mad:

Yea, ovenmaster is right.

That framework is a #$%&*!!!

A year or two ago one of my programs would only work 2.0, so it wouldn't work on my comp cause of guess what? I had 2.0. So like an idiot i uninstalled and reinstalled and voila never got past boot screen.

ive had the same problem before. Ovenmaster was right. One thing though. Ive never had it shut down the computer. it just would not install. after rebooting. ya might want to goto start / control panel / add remove.
just start uninstalling updates. after that then reboot. Start windows explore, not firefox. goto www.update.microsoft.com and start over. you will be forced to get the validation to receive the updates 1st. reboot. do custom install. and pick and choose which ones. there is a swoop of them right now since the updates are done for xp. (i think).

maybe ya all ready did this. ive had the problem before. and this is the way i did it. i never had it shut down and not start though. only thing i can think of.

let us know.
