Final Build Drumroll Please.

After much searching and deliberating I think this will be a pretty nice gaming/multimedia build. If anyone has any further suggestions please feel free to comment. Still on the fence about the cpu cooler can't decide between the Megahealms and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. Megahealms is probably a better cooler ,but Hyper is only $30. I already have the dvd drives, psu, and I will be using my old Kingwin case. It's a mid-tower so I think it will all fit fine.

I picked the mx-2 just b/c I kept seeing it mentioned on different forums and reviews doesn't really matter to me which one I use as long as it does it's job.

In that case, the heatsink should come with thermal paste pre-applied. At least, I have never purchased one that didn't.

If your a gamer then I would consider going with a DX11 GPU from ati's 5xxx series. I can see you wanting to upgrade to DX11 in the near future yet you are purchasing the most expensive last generation ati single gpu card.

I would rather buy a 5770 now and plan on getting a second one later on.

I keep seeing results saying that the 4890 trumps all but the $400 ati 5xxx series cards. Figured I would buy it then upgrade later when Dx11 cards are more mainstream and cheaper. Also, I didn't mean after market thermal paste didn't matter. I would prefer to use a high quality paste as compared to what comes with the heat sink.

I currently have a 8800gt anyone think it would be better to just keep it and wait to buy a DX11 card later on.

Really, if you're going to get it soon, no point getting it now if you have to borrow money, it's not like ATi's going to come out with an HD 6000 series in the near future ;)

Same exact stuff, MX-2 and TX-2 are the exact same compount, just like antec 5 or whatever its called is the same as arctic silver 5(and i can confirm this, talked to artic silver tech on the phone as well as the guys at tuniq).

Honestly i recommend Shin Etsu X23-7783D(best as far as ive seen), or G751(second best paste sold from tests that ive seen):

Is Micro center a good place to buy from? I have never heard of it. I know there is no real future proof, but am I making a mistake going with the 920 1366. I googled "i7 920 discontinued" ,and got all kinds of hits. I want to get the best for the money I have to spend. Will the 1366 920 be the wrong route to take? I plan on not upgrading the mobo and cpu for a while after this build.

I know with me and most reviews TX-2 beats it by a few degrees, plus its cheaper.:D Havent tried TX-3 yet,but I heard its alittle thick and tough to get right.

920 is the RIGHT route to take.

For mobo, id highly suggest a foxconn bloodrage. For the CPU microcenter is a great place to buy from for $199, mobo and whatnot get off newegg.

Why the older Bloomfield instead of Lynnfield?
granted you'd have to switch most of your setup... dual channel mainboard and memory kit...

But I'd thought Lynnfield > Bloom by quite a bit.

I think Bloomfield is greater than Lynnfield. Bloomfield is the 1366. Why would I have to switch my setup? I'm going 1366 tri channel mobo and memory.

Just realized the micro center I7 920 for $199 is in store pickup only. :(

Because Lynnfields are dual channel only.
They also devote a portion of the CPU for GPU communication.

1366 may be greater in the future when 6/8 cores come out, but at the moment all marks show the Lynnfield on top by quite a bit actually.
