Can someone tell me if Satellite laptop are usually good computer and if the battery will really last for 3 hours because on the site it said up to 3 hours(under a standard load).

thank you :)

i forgot: i will use it to watch movies,do homework and listen to music. If someone know a better laptop, feel free to give me ideas

We can't give you much information without knowing more specs about the laptop. However, Toshiba laptops are typically quite well made, so quality shouldn't be a problem. As for battery life, three hours might be pushing it for most standard Toshiba laptops/batteries, but again, it's hard to say without knowing more about it.

Yeah, I had multiple toshiba satellites until my new/current HP...

they were all good, nice features, and well built. the battery life is hard to say, cause it all depends on what you are doing, but I never had a problem watching a 2 hour movie on it unplugged!

Seeing as the specs say "Up To 3 Hours" for battery life, I'd expect 2 hours. Those kind of estimations are typically very optimistic and under ideal conditions. Besides that, I feel quite sure it'd be a fine computer. My grandparents just got a cheap Toshiba and my mother has had one for a couple years now, both being very nice computers.

I had purchased this Dell Studio XPS 16 and so far the laptop has been working pretty fine, i wanted to go a Toshiba, but a really hard pressing salesman convinced me to go for it, and overall i am unhappy with my investment

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934 with an upgraded HDD and I was averaging a touch over 2 hours of battery life using the 'Balanced' setting in Vista Home Premium with an 11 month old battery.

I now have a brand new battery (3 weeks old) and I get damned near 3.25 hours using the same hardware/settings as above.

My battery is rated for 'about 3 hours' and I don't believe I have this Eco button the others have referred to, that's an option on this year's lineup, though.

see I would expect 2 hours because that 3 hours is only if you have all the screen details turned down and all that
