HF10 or HF20

That's what I'm thinking. But the HF10 is *supposed* to have better low light quality. I plan on making some short films with it.

I think most CMOS based cameras have fairly poor low light performance. Now personally I was looking into the HF20.

Were you just pointing out that both are going to be poor in low light? Because they both have CMOS sensors, and in that case I would 100% agree with you. As far as between the two, the resolution on the HF20 has a much better recording resolution, and I'd go with that since it's not all that much more...

Yes, I meant CMOS sensors in general. Almost every CMOS based camera I've used/owned has gotten much more noisy than my CCD based cameras. The HF20 is still a very good camera, still on my wish list, but expect more noise than you'd probably have in some of your older CCD based cameras...

My new Pentax SLR exhibits a fair bit of noise if the conditions are just right, regardless of the ISO. It can be a bit discouraging, but most cameras can manage the noise quite well. That or it's not that noticeable when printed or on a TV...

I've had both the HF100 and now the HF20, and the HF20 is best IMO. I heard that it has worse low-light quality, but I've actually found it to be better. It's a great entry level HD camcorder, you won't be disappointed!

I bought mine for $499 at Bestbuy.

I went and filmed some boats in the bay earlier this week and the video came out really nice. Definitely a nice camera, but the bit rate is so high for my laptop :p I can hardly play back the video at a decent rate. This one should last a while :D

What program are you using? VLC isn't good for playing the MTS files.

Media Player Classic and Vegas Pro 8.0 for editing. Its a bit choppy in both.
