Dual booting

Hi..I am currently running windows xp service pack 3 on my laptop.

Ive backed up everything on there but would like to partition the hard drive and download Vista on there and be able to dual boot. In other words boot whichever operating system I want to at the start up.

I have the ability to hook up the SATA Hd from the laptop to my PC but need a program that will partition the Hard drive so when I put it back in the laptop I can download Vista.

Free would be great. Any pointers?

best guide out there i think. Any reason why you're booting xp and vista? Should do vista and linux :D

I have not messed enough with linux to feel comfortable using it as a daily user. Maybe some day :)

Right now I have my laptop with Xp on the main partition. But some of the video stuff I do is not supported by xp and I am getting really tired of having to go to my PC,,doing what I have to do with Vista then transfering it over to the lap top.

I actually just used the HP recover side of the HD to boot Vista too. I just formatted that drive then installed Vista. I plan to get a new HD soon anyways and will install Vista or Windows 7 on there
