HP Computer Problem

Alright, so I ended up with an HP Compaq dx7500 small form factor PC, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...peId=12454&prodSeriesId=3804435&lang=en&cc=us

Apparently it got wet, somewhere, from what I've been told. Everything looks fine, it does turn on, but when I connected a monitor to the DVI port, the monitor just kept saying something about the signal, turning off and then back on, and it can't be the monitor, since I plugged my computer into it and it was just fine. This may be something simple, but I'm having an off day. Am I overlooking something? I can post pics if it'll help.

Thanks.

Does it have any other Monitor ports???
Have you tried another cable???

I would just sent it back, and tell them its not working, and that you want a none wet one! It is stupid for it to have got wet.

It was given to me for free, it's still relatively up to date, C2D, Vista Biz. That's also the reason I can't return it, and it have VGA and DVI, I only tried DVI, so perhaps that may be why? If I can find a DVI-VGA adapter or VGA cable, I'll try it again.

Thanks.

Alright, so I tried a VGA cable into the VGA port on my monitor, and when I turned it on, the screen said something about no signal, which it usually does when I boot my main computer, then it'll usually flash then boot, but with the HP computer and a VGA connection, it flashed once, then showed a black screen. The DVI cable kept flashing no signal I think, if that helps.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Sounds like something has died along the way.... and has been affected due to the water involvement.

Otherwise, i got no idea, sorry.

Maybe try another video card???

I would slap a free or very cheap card in it to test and go from there. If there is no power then getting wet (with fresh water) is not the end of the world as long as it is dried properly. You may get lucky, but you may not.

Alright, no big loss if it doesn't work right? The CPu should still work, hdd should, so some of the stuff should be able to be used again.

Thanks.

Well I plugged in an external card into the slot, tried VGA w/ DVI adapter, and a DVI cable, nothing. Even tried plugging in another hard drive, no luck.
