Pentium D/Core duo question

So I AM getting a new mobo and processor here in a month, but I'm selling a few things first.

Regardless, I have a Pentium D 3.0 Ghz, yes I know I know. But I'm getting the beta for Bad Company 2 and it says minimum Core duo 2.0 Ghz. I was wondering if that extra speed on my less awesome processor will be able to play it. As in is the Pentium D 3.0 compare to the Core Duo 2.0 ? And yes, the D is dual core, one of the first I believe.

It'll run, just probably not at maximum settings as the CPU will become a bottleneck then. What graphics card do you have?

Heh, well the video card I wasn't worried about. It's not The new gen power house, but it does it's job.

The processor is where I was worried. I know the Core Duo's are more efficent and powerful at similar clock speeds, and honestly this chip is what, 5-6 years old? Depending on what money I get back from selling part of my guitar rig, I'll get an i5 or low end i7, or 965 Phenom.

Just curious if those chips I previously mentioned are comparable.

haha ok, you could go i5 then, still more powerful than the amd top quads, depending on which model of course.
