Are You Better Off Keeping extra laptop or selling it?

I just bought a much better notebook with Windows 7 for myself which will replace my XP Tecra A-8 notebook which I bought new in 2008 for about $850 if you include the extra memory I bought with it. I use the notebook entirely in my bedroom and don't intend to take it out of my home and use it 95% of the time. The other 5% I use my Gateway XP desktop in my den/exercise room.

My question for which I'd like your opinion is, am I better off with both a notebook and desktop in my home selling the Tecra 8 for say $300 plus shipping or just keeping it as a spare for emergencies? The $300 would be useful to me but I don't have an urgent need for the $300 either. Thanks for your input.

I think Tekra 8 is pretty good notebook for someone for daily use. It would be a pity to keep it just for the emergencies. After selling it you still have 2 computers :D

Do you mean you use the new notebook most of the time or the old. If the new one is for business or something than I'd rather not resort to a desktop for casual use imo. But if you never use it, I'd sell it now while it's still worth something. Just let it sit on craigslist and put a fairly high price and wait a while and see how much you can get for it.

I'd sell it, you'll still have a desktop, and a brand new notebook. Make sure you get an estimate on how much it's worth. Don't get ripped off.

I usually just keep it. It adds to the computer count :D

Plus it allows family members to have access to another computer in the house if your not always using it. That's how my old Latitude D600 works these days.

Hello Peachesbackwards,

Tecra A-8 notebook is a great unit. Keeping the unit will be a great help in the future. Who knows, right? As of the moment, you are not in need of the $300, which is your selling price for the Tecra A-8 Notebook. So, why sell it rather than keeping it.

Thanks,
