No games and no 3D work right? Do you need a lot of memory or built in storage? Will 1tb HDD work fine? Where are you located so we can consider all store options?

Is this just general e-mail, and Microsoft Ofiice type stuff?

i5-750 $200

$745 but I did not take into account the rebates on these. I think there is over $45 in rebates. Plus you can get a case for less that the one I used. I think your original post said $700.

^ That, is a pretty sweet build. The only thing I'd change/ditch would be to swap the PSU to an Xclio 500w (this will give him more wiggle room, 400w is pushing it) and I'd ditch the card reader if it's not needed.

I also buy from MC. The i7 is a good processor, it really is not much better than the i5-750. However, if you want more RAM, you have a MC near by, I would get the i7-930 and a 6gb RAM set. It will add about $100 on the MOBO and $50 on the RAM. If you have a Frys near you they have a Antec 650w PSU on sale for $59 right now. More than you need but a great price, maybe you will want a higher end GPU someday?

MC had a low cost Gigabyte case for $40 that was all black.

Good MOBO
