In 2010, how do I use my laptop as the monitor and keyboard on my desktop pc?

I searched the web for info regarding this, but most of the posts are from 2005 and stuff... nothing is really recent. So, is there new hardware or software that would allow this?

Thanks!

I am not sure but i think that there really is no way to set up your laptop as a monitor, unless your laptop has a video input. which most laptops do not have. the keyboard is possible though, using system link, i.e. ethernet connection between laptop and PC, and a program (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ first result in google for use one keyboard and mouse for 2 computers). i hope this helps, or more likely explains what i think was said before. Why would you want to do this? It's very unusual, and I can't think of any practical reason for it - that's probably why you're having such a hard time finding ways to do it...

...however...

You could set up RealVNC server on the desktop, which would allow you remote access - if you went full screen mode I guess, essentially, you would be using your laptop as the monitor and the keyboard for your desktop. Shouldn't have much lag on a local network, so that should work out good.

How about that?

I want to do this because it's more simple to move a tower and a laptop around than it is to move a tower, a screen, a keyboard and all the other wires.

Thanks for the vnc info!

Awesome. Too bad it requires costly hardware. :( I was looking more for a software solution but 400$ isn't that bad.
