Hi Im looking at getting a new mouse.

What is the difference between a laser mouse and an optical mouse? I am looking to game a gaming mouse, because the mouse I have currently is terrible. Thx for any input

Matt

PS Im also looking at the bluetooth mouses, not sure how good they are for gaming.

Laser and optical are practically the same, but you will feel and see the difference between a cheap optical mouse and a good gaming mouse.

For gaming mice, i would always recommend wired over wireless... just a habit of mine, really.

The logitech g5 is good, although now it's been replaced by the G500. The MX518 is also popular. I hear that the Razer mice are also good.

What's your budget for a mouse? And a good keyboard makes a lot of difference, Hence I have the G15 and G5. :D

I went from the MX518 to the G5 and it's not that much noticeable. I've tried Razor mice, but they don't quite fit my 'man hands' :p

If you will use the mouse for gaming purposes, Linkin is correct in saying that a wired mouse is better than a wireless mouse. We've tried a wireless mouse before for gaming and the mouse movements are not as smooth as that of a wired mouse (of course I'm not sure if the brand has something to do with it). The mouse seemed to have erratic movements. From then on, we always prefer wired mouse for gaming.

optical=red light
laser can be infrared(like mine) and there is no red light on the bottom of the mouse

look at some razer mice. even a low end one would be good for gaming

Logitech MX-518 All the way! I love this mouse.. It's awesome, and the best part is the fact that it is long-lasting and can handle a punch or eight!
