Remote File Transfer?

I currently use tightvnc, which I like. However, afaik, there is not a file transfer tool. Does anybody know of a *free* program I can use to transfer files between computers? Not uploading them to a site then redownloading on another computer, but just transfering?

Hey bkribbs,

It looks like you should be able to transfer files in TightVNC - look in the drop-down list in the top left hand corner of the "window" border...

If not...

Are the computers connecting through the same router? If so, I would just setup a Windows home network and enable file sharing on the computers.

If not, then you download and install free FTP server/client software. I like FileZilla. You will have to do some configuring. Post back here after you get the server/client installed on the computers if you need help.

VNC connections are not secure they send username and password in plain text. Also, FTP does the same. You should use SFTP for file transfer and you should probably use VNC over ssh. Google will tell you how to set it up and if you download the filezilla server SFTP is an option you can configure.

Hi,
Read up on VPN virtual personal networking in your help guide on windows. It’s very easy to set up. While VNC provides excellent desktop control.
Thanks
