Currently im running Windows 7, 32bit but I may want to upgrade to 64bit in the future. Is there an easy/cost efficient way to do this or do I really have to buy another OS disk and spend another $100+ just to upgrade from 32 to 64? Thanks in advance :)

i bought a retail ver. windows 7 pro. both options were there. either or.
you will likely have to do another installation. (new). i think.

Yeah except I got it pre installed and they only sent me the 32 bit version even though Microsoft states that both versions should be available on both discs. Maybe they only are specifically talking retail versions :(

If you can find a retail 64-bit disc from someone, just borrow that to install the OS and use YOUR key to activate.

You could request a copy of the 64bit restore CD from the manufacturer, if they offer it. And, yes, the retail versions of Windows 7 come with both the 64bit and 32bit installers.

FYI - Switching from 32bit to 64bit OS installations (and vice versa) will require a complete re-install.

Ok found a pretty simple solution. Downloaded the 64 bit ISO from the internet and burned it to a DVD. Used that DVD as my startup disc and used my own win7 cd key and worked perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions all
