Im actualy thinking of getting one myself now,Now its all in one with the 250Gb hard drive, built in wireless...and i already have a 360 controller (but it comes with one anyway?),It makes it much more appealing to me.

I want to get GTA IV + the expansions and play it on console back like in the old days....imo you cant beat playing GTA on a console and will just run better.

I wouldn't get the original 360 unless it was really really cheap,But this new 360 looks like what the first 360 should have been.

I'm suprised that Microsoft has done this though,I mean afterall...its been 5 years since the 360s release, wouldn't it have been better to create a new console with newer, faster hardware?...

I know Sony done the same thing with the PS2 and PS3 by creating a "Slim" version but i really do think consoles are lagging behind a bit now,Not cpu power wise as the PS3s cpu is very powerfull....But graphics wise.

When I was still at EB Games before being laid off from lack of hours, we had a Staff Party/Meeting where the Sony Rep for our city came in to talk about some new things Sony was going to introduce to our store and to play some games. He called the new PS3 (we had only just got it around that time) "PS3 Slim. But I can't really call it that..."
"SO YOU MEAN THIS ISN'T THE SLIM AND SONY HAS SOMETHING ELSE IN MIND?"
"I uh... can't say anything to that."

So I believe that this "Slim" that's out right now might be the actual "Slim" console and that something else may still be in hiding for the PS3.

As for lack of new console announcements lately... they're all trying to dance into Nintendo's grounds of motion sensitivity. Project Natal... or rather Kinect is to be the newest thing coming out, launching with a bunch of titles as soon as it does. I think that's as close to a new console we're going to get for awhile; that and the Playstation Move.

Nintendo 3DS looks neat, however.

I'm not going to get the Natal crap tough...when I play on my xbox, I want to be lazy and sit in a comfy chair with a gamepad. (same as playing a bit in bed just before going to sleep.)
If I want to do something exhausting, i'll go skating or something like that. not playgears of war 3 using motion control.

Hardly, the chip that generates the heat is a 45nm one, wich runs cooler than the one of the original 360 (wich is a 90nm one if i'm not mistaken.)

and with a smaller casing, there's less ducting needed to get the air where it needs to be, so less resistance = cooler. :p

Current gen is 65nm, originals are 90nm, slims are 45nm.

OH, and they have "cat-touch" technology in this new 360 as well. For those of you who don't know what that is, think back to the first models of the PS3. You don't physically push the console button in for power on/off and eject, you just swipe your finger over it.

I remember back in like 2000-01 when the first Macintosh Cubes came out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Mac_G4_Cube) they had that technology and it was annoying. If the sensor started to fail, it would automatically power cycle itself all the time.

Gamestop is doing a trade in special for your old xboxes

I might have to stop into EB Games today before work and pester my old co-workers about that trade in... but I'm also partly tempted to just wait until mine dies... BUT this trade-in might save me money so I dunno. Herm.

My little brother works for gamestop. he is telling me that with the trade in of your old 360 + your old HD, it makes the new xbox only $125 out of pocket.

That is almost motivation for me to buy one. Plus my 360, is 2nd gen (non elite) and is beige. My PS3 is black, my TV is black, my entertainment stand is black, so it would match. Wow, I can't believe I just said that, because I am a dude, and dudes do not care if crap matches....

man I think I need to go do some push ups and regain some man points, maybe curl my mustache!

The only thing I'm not too fond of is the gloss finish. My PS3 is gloss and it's so marked up from small little dings and whatever else. I rather like the Matte my current Elite has.

And I use to work for EB Games, But I don't think I can afford $125 right now considering I have a trip coming up just next Tuesday that. I still need to give my roomie my rent before leaving, too.

You saw the picture of my game corner in the Workspace thread? xd

I don't believe I did.

It's my baby, pretty much, among other things.
I'm going to hang posters that I recently framed, too, from my Bioshock 2 S.E. Have a few others to get frames for, still.

maybe one of these days I will finish my set up so I can post a pic. Still need furniture for my record player and an external preamp, and then some decent speakers and I am set.

lol you have like 50 times more games than me :p

And I still have more in my closet for older consoles dating back to NES, etc.

I also use to work for EB Games until hours were cut and I was laid off. I'm still pretty close with the people there though. My besties. <3
