I've been playing Cod4 modern warfare and was thinking about buying 2. Seems like I saw someone blasting it somewhere though. Anyone have 2? Would you buy it again?

I have mw2 and I love it. Everything is great though the server system can be a bit of a pain sometimes. I would say 1 in 5 matches is going to have a bad host or have a little lag for a while. It almost always gets remedied however. I would buy mw2 again no doubt. Looking forward to black ops though.

I have both. I have had MW1 since about 6 months after it came out and still play it every day. MW2, I got it the day it came out, played it for a month, haven't since.

I played through the single player and thought it was good, but only because I was looking forward to that more than multiplayer. However I played through again to youtube it and show a friend (he only has a wii so missed out on it) and thought how crap it is. After the first couple of missions, it is the same old same old, they take what was great about MW1 and explode it massively so it doesn't impress any more and for a "realistic" game, it is horrible unrealistic.

Online, if you are on PC, don't get it because of the lack of dedi servers. The matchmaking system is alright for consoles, but for PC it is a hell of a fail. You will get a laggy host almost every other game, you can't have any kind of clan gaming/competative gaming because of no dedi servers, you can't enforce rules or have a niche server like you could in CoD4, you can't kick hackers, of which there are so many because the VAC system doesn't work there and then, it works way in the future when a new, improved hack that bypasses VAC has been released.

Aside from no dedi servers, it still doesn't work online. They took the whole it is whoever controls the weapon best/knows the map/has the best reactions away completely. you play CoD4, the majority of people are running about, in MW2 it is all campers because the health is much lower and guns do more damage, so they just have to keep their sights over the entrance and get the kill, so anyone at all can get a bjillion kills with 0 skill. For alot of people, that would just mean throw a nade into the room or sneak up on them or snipe them, but when you have people in that are crap at the game anyway and are running about, you get stupid amounts of people having a little cry or rage quitting, which wouldn't normally be a problem, you ould tell them to shut up and play or leave, if they didn't you would kick them, but again, you can't kick anyone, so you are stuck with them.

You have to pay ridiculous amounts for DLC,, the game initially costs way too much, if you are on PC you can't sell it on because it gets bound to your steam account, unless you make another steam account just for it then sell that, but then you are breaking the EULA so that isn't allowed, so if it turns out you don't like it, you are stuck with a game you don't like, that you payed stupid amounts for, that you can't mod to make it any better and that you can't, unless you are stupid or too rich, get new content to make it fun again

=EDIT=

oh, I should point out on CoD4 there are modded servers with the guns and maps of MW2, so you can get the game from there effectively for free, and you get the majority of the DLC from MW2 too because they just remade CoD4 maps anyway

not surprisingly, they aren't as refined as the actual MW2, but it has all the weapons, some can have multiple attatchments, there are ways to do the majority of stuff that is in MW2, all of the maps are there just about 100% the same as they are in MW2...

Cheers for the info,Aastii.:)

nps bud :)

To add onto what you said in your second to last post, I wouldn't hold your breath for black ops. I would wait for the first DLC to come out for 2 reasons:

1. to see if the game is any good. Even though it isn't IW, Activision will still have their hands in it.

2. Because of the second point, Activision are money hungry a-holes abd will probably end up charging for DLC on all 3 platforms, as well as charging stupid amounts for them. However, if there are dedi servers, don't expect that to happn on PC, once there are dedicated servers, charging for DLC becomes stupid because people can distribute them through their servers at no cost

Intresting read,Quote:
Consumer pre-orders for Activision's next game in the Call of Duty series are out-pacing those for last year's Modern Warfare 2 installment.

And according to Pacific Crest Securities' Evan Wilson, Call of Duty: Black Ops is on track to sell around 12 million units during the Christmas quarter, compared to 16 million sales of Modern Warfare 2 for the same period last year, reports Gamespot.

Back in May, Doug Creutz of Cowan & Company estimated that the game will sell over 10 million units following its release on November 9.

Although a multiformat title, Microsoft announced at E3 this year that Xbox 360 owners will get access to the additional downloadable content for the game before PlayStation 3 users, in the start of a three year deal.

Also here is that extract about the three year deal:

Quote:
Microsoft has announced a deal that will see the Xbox 360 platform receive Call of Duty game add-ons first for the next three years.

While the financial terms of the deal weren't released, it mirrors the kind of agreement that saw Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content released exclusively for the Xbox 360 for a rumoured $50 million in 2008.

The news, released during this year's Microsoft press briefing at E3, is the start of - according to Don Mattrick - a "year of transformation" for the console.

"If you love games, Xbox is the only place for you and your friends to play all three of the biggest blockbusters in our industry - Halo, Gears of War and Call of Duty."

The deal will start with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops, slated for a November 9 launch date - although the nature of the add-on content is not yet known

Well, I'm not going that direction then.. I just really like fps and I'm ready for something new. It seems like they usually end up messing up the killer games.

I disagree.

MW2 works fine for me and I get great (low) ping almost constantly. MW2 is much better than MW although dedicated servers would have been good.

The game costs less than $50 now on amazon. Plus whoever claims that $15 for DLC is expensive obviously lives at home with their parents. You stuggle to get a couple of coffees for that in most capital cities these days. I have played MW2 for around 250 hours since it was released. I paid full price of $120 + 2 x DLC = $150. That is 60c per hour and falling. Give me a break. That is cheap.

In summary:

Servers are fine for me.
60c per hour and falling is cheaper than frogger on at a milk bar in the 80's.
The game graphically ownes MW

Everyone to their own opinion, mine will always be the game stinks and you people are being robbed. Why do you not count what you pay in broadband when you say it only costs 60c per hour or don't you pay for broadband.

what? you have broadband anyway regardless of game right? Secondly, i think it is one of the highest selling and played games, so it seems that you are in the minority. Thirdly Black Ops is made by Treyarc so don't hold your breath.

I think you are wrong about being the highest played game.
When you think how long CoD4 has been going and still going which is more than i can say about MW2 no way will it out last CoD4 it will be finished before next year.:)
