I wanted to know the pros and cons of the the free versions of both avira and avast antivirus. I'm not very good with computers, so any help would be great. Also, is windows defender any good or should I turn that off and use avira or avast instead?

Is it OK to use both the free versions of malwarebytes and superantispyware at the same time?

You can only use 1 active virus program at any given time. If you want to try a different one, you will have to uninstall the first one before installing the next one. You can run all the malware programs you want without hurting anything. I often recommend running malwarebytes and superantispyware together as malwarebytes catches something that superantispyware misses and vice versa. It seems that most people are saying that avast is better. I use avg and don't have any issues and has actually stopped me from visiting bad websites.

Avira - has been known to have lots of false positives.
Avast - i've only heard good things.
Avg - low detection rate although it has been improving.
I like to reccomend CIS because its a free full suite but you can compile programs to be just as good.

Disable windows defender and use the two programs listed above Malwarebytes or SAS as on-demand scanners, you can use both at the same time but depending on your computer it may slow it down.

I completely and totally agree with johb35 on this. I also trust AVG, and I install it on computers people bring me if they have no antivirus or an antivirus I consider inferior (ie. Norton, Macafee, or unknown providers).

I think Computers are naked without both SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes installed. I believe both to be absolutely necessary on all personal computers.

I have been using AVG for a month now. In the past I used ESET, it was also good but I like AVG better. I do online banking so it is important that my information is secured from spyware and AVG does that.
