Thinking of buying this, and apparently its a decent card. Still running the coal powered 8800gt and im feeling a bit prehistoric, so if anyone can vouch for the 460gtx, my decisions made!

Ive not got the card, although i have thought about getting it (check out gfx card section)

Going by Gpu Reviews its one hell of a card for the price, and going from a 8800GT to a 460 will be like night/day diffrence.

It was when i went from my 8800GT to my 4890.

I agree with Linki about getting the 1Gb version, never understood why Nvidia put stupid amounts of ram on a card,i mean 768mb...JUST top it off to the nearest GB Nvidia!!!!!

Id like to see a 2GB version,That will help out in GTA IV.

I have dual 8800GTs and really don't have a problem with them. They're overclocked and run current games just fine. I do have my eye on the 460 or whatever ATI is competing with. If money is tight, and you can do it, look into SLI, if you're up for it.

Pricing....and the reason the 768gb version isnt worth it is not because its got less memory, but the fact it only has a 192bit memory bus vs the 256bit bus on the 1gb.

I looked into this, but it looks like 8800gt's arent availble anywhere anymore, unless i grab one second hand but i'd sooner just get a new, more current card. Im fairly sure mine 8800gt's on the way out aswell - keep getting bizzarre glitches that seem graphical. Shame, i've had it for ages!

So you reckon its worth getting the 1gb version - even for £25 more? How notable is the performance difference between the 260gtx and the 460gtx because i've heard the 260's a beast aswell - and its cheaper. Say for example:

I'd like to know your reasoning behind thinking going SLI = pissing money away. I spent around $200 getting a new board capable of SLI, and a second 8800GT. That was still cheaper than what was (near) top of the line at that time. And I got similar performance, even at stock speeds.

I think that sli/ xfire is a waste if you are running brand new cards just to get extra fps above 60. If you pick up another card to keep an older set of cards running longer. I can see it being worth it.

Well I was referring to SLIing the OP's current card, the 8800GT, and the OP responded to that. Not sure if the guy who said it was a waste picked up on that or not..

Thanks for the clarification though.
