well it did run this setup and now im having problems
heres the psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...7341010&cm_re=OCZ_600w-_-17-341-010-_-Product

and now my specs:
Xclio windtunnel - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103011
x2 120MM fans (one for intake and one for exhaust)
4gb Patriot viper DDR3 2000MHz EPP 2.0
x2 BFG Tech GTS 250 Factory OC in SLI
XFX 790i Ultra Mobo
XIGMATEK nepartak - s983 92mm HYPRO Bearing CPU Cooler
intel E8400 3.0ghz which i may or may not had been running at 3.6ghz

and thats it i think..what ended up happening was i was getting flickering and blackouts while playing games eventually it got so bad i couldnt play them. Wouldnt happen while browsing the internet or on youtube. Running W7 Pro 64bit. This did not occur right away, Ive had the GTS 250s in SLI since january and didnt have a problem until now.

Both GTS 250's were tested in a friends rig and are fine.

RMA'd the mobo (great service from XFX) Thinking it could be that.

Got a new HDD because the crap one I had in there was like 4 or 5 years old that i ripped out of a dell and was testing for critical errors so I have a WD 1TB Black Caviar sitting in my room. From what I hear HDD dont cause grfx errors, just replaced it out of necessity.

So Ive narrowed it down to the RAM, which I cant test till I get the mobo back cus i dont know anyone else with a DDR3 board to run it on (sad right?) and the PSU which I think I might have shorted out running all that stuff.

Help please.

upon reading this reviewhttp://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/2369-ocz-stealthxstream-600w-power-supply-review.html
it was mentioned twice that it was not reccomended to run a pair for 8800GTS/GTX in SLI with anything less then a 700w PSU and I just ran 2 GTS 250s which are essentially just upgraded 8800s anyway but is there a way i can test the PSU to see if thats the actual problem? Or if ill be able to run the system with one card instead of 2 until i get a better PSU

that psu has 4x18amp 12volt rails

bfg advises you to have 26amps for your system and one gpu so i cant see adding another going over your available power output

No, that 600W ocz i would not run SLI GTS250's on, its a middle of the road power supply, but ripple suppression is very poor at higher loads due to its design being based off of the FSP epsilon,

One of these is the PSU i would get at that price, both are based off of the seasonic M12D platform, indy reg units and some of the lowest ripple i have ever seen on a consumer power supply:

thanks for all of your responses they've been a big help however im really looking for something that i can have down the road to maybe power a more powerfull system

so looking for something in the 950-1000w range, modular. something in the $150-200 range. I know its not all about wattage and amps play a very important part as well so even if theres something in the 850 range that would be worthwhile to keep down the line would be great too.

750 would be fine for my system now but like i said im looking for something that i could have down the road with a more powerful CPU more powerful hungry GPU's (fermi cards or 5k series ATI's) fans/liquid cooling yadayadayada.

750W/850W is plenty...850W will quite easily handle two fermi cards, in fact you could probably run two fermi's on a 750W. I'd go with the 850W XFX unit personally...or another 850W based off of the M12D platform.
The silverstone is alright, i'd stay away from the CM unit though, for the price there are alot of better options.

Quite a bit better, excellent ripple suppression, rock solid rail stability, pretty quiet, and quite a bit more effecient, effeciency numbers are pretty close to 80PLUS Gold if i remember right.

yeah i just looked at the specs side by said and they are very similar, also read a review that the XFX more or less is better than the Corsair the only thing turning me off to the XFX PSU is reviewers saying the cables are real stiff and makes it tough for cable management which im really big on.

i deff want performance tho so, probably will go with the XFX. on top of that i have a XFX mobo and have had XFX GPU's in the past, i really like their stuff, i like their customer service too, less then a week turn around on my mobo when i RMA'd it. btw nothing was wrong with the mobo, just didnt know i was having a psu issue, RMA'd the mobo just cus i could. Better safe then sorry.

Side by side the specs are not really even close to being identical, maybe the outputs, but specifications such as ripple suppression and how tight the voltage regulation is are both areas that generally must be tested, which the seasonic built XFX unit excels at. The hx850 from corsair does quite well in those areas as well, not quite as good as the XFX 850W, but still pretty good nonetheless.
