Steam Question

So if I buy a hard copy of say Counter Strike / Counter Strike Source and tie the keys to my Steam is there a way to unlock them and sell the game or am I screwed over like those poor saps that buy the direct download copies?

I ask because I plan to buy a few used steam games from Amazon but I don't want to risk it if online play is gonna be impossible as lets face it that is what most games shine at anymore. I really hate steam when it comes to selling games.

Pretty sure I know the answer but hoping I will get lucky for once :p

Once it is bound to your account, that is it unfortunately, can't unbind it to sell it on

Bah I figured as much but I was hoping that things changed. Oh well steam lost out on $50 again. I swear I am getting so sick of new age gaming anymore :/

You could sell your steam account once your done with the games?

TBH I don't see Counter-Strike 1.6 or Source as games you would want to resell, they are onliners that never get old. It's not like it's just a story you complete and are done with.

but its not so much that, but if you ever dont want steam anymore, the game wont work

Please correct me if I am wrong ,but I also think once you buy a base game and want an expansion game to that series that it has to be a steam expansion, not retail copy unless its a standalone expansion. So it locks you into buy more steam games .If that expansion doesnt come out on steam but just on retail copy you are screwed unless you want to buy the original retail copy that you allready have on steam which would be redundant.

Sorry if I made this confusing.lol.It really makes me rethink continuing buy new games on steam though plus I really still like a Hard retail copy of a game that you can hold in your hands as well as extras like fold out maps a manual that you dont have to ALT TAb to.

Maybe not as important on linear FPS games but on MMOs and RPGs it is
