We have had some third pasty company in to do some work on our file server.

We have replace

2 x 4GB 2Rx4 PC2-5300F-555-11 modules with heat spreader

I was told by the company I could get some money back on them if sold on ebay etc, Now I'm not that clued up on memory but no data or information is stored on the stick is, so if I sell when plugged into another server anything is remember, like a hard drive would be. Yes I am blonde but I want to be 100% sure

There will be nothing left on it. RAM requires power to maintain it's state. Once the power is off everything on it is gone.

Your Rant Here

Mate, What did that have to do with Random Access Memory...

Love the Copy paste, And Nice links down bottom...

BTW, What kind of ram did they take out? So we can give you an indication on what pricerange to throw them on ebay for...

I haven't put on as still worried that data can be recovered if used in new server, like old IP addresss, server name or software that was ran on it and want to be sure 100% its like new when pulled out, anyone help would be nice

There is no data stored on the memory sticks once the computer is shut off. Only data on the hard drive can actually be recovered.

Even if it is server memory, as had all my accounts and server names on the old system...I am just being stupid but you read all those data stories in the news hahah

There is no need to worry. As I said before the only device where you can retrieve data is a hard drive.

You need to take a computer course on Basic computers. Ram - means Random Access Memory. And like johnb35 had told you once the power is gone. Anything that is on it will not be.
