Firefox and no script

I use no script on Firefox. I wouldn't surf without it.

It takes a day or so to get used to it, it took me a few weeks to fully understand and learn all it does. But to just install and get going with it takes about a day. My fiancee also uses NoScript, and she learned it in a day.

You'll love it once you learn it. You will stop seeing all the ads, and annoying tracking scripts like Google analytics, Google Syndication, Double-click.net, quantserve.com, yieldmanager.com, media servers.net, and the random addresses which show up on some pages.

You can just ok the sites which you know to be safe, and permanently ban the sites you dont want to run. You can also run as temporarily allow certain sites or entire pages, or allow ALL and (NoScript disabled mode) if needed.

It makes surfing so much safer and faster since the ads and all other scripts are are disabled by default, and you can permanently keep them disabled. While you can OK the scripts you want/need for the page content you want.

No script also protects against XSS which is especially troublesome. No Script in this manner prevents and warns you (via pop-up box) about a redirects from hidden/false links and prompts for a course of action.

In addition, I like that I can see that certain sites are trying to gather info on/about me and my browsing habits. And I can block their script attempts to do so. Just don't think that this is a magic bullet and you can go to any dangerous site you want. There are other ways people can trick you, or create sites to include dangerous content. NoScript is just one of many security tools. But common sense is the first tool in your tool box.

There is tons more that No Script does, go here to read about it: NoScript
