Computer Shutting Off When Playing some Games

I have a computer running a Foxconn Am2 motherboard, Amd Phenom 8200 2.10 GHz triple core processor, 2gb of RAM, and an Nvidia 7600GT Video card. I am running two 20" LCDs on the Video Card. When I play older games like World of Warcraft or EQ 2 the system will run just fine but when I try to play newer games such as Lord of the Rings Online or some shooters after a little while the system will shut down. It also does this sometimes when I'm running Netflix on one monitor and surfing on the other I have ran temperature testing programs and the chip stays between 40-45 C and the Video card around 70 C. I only have a Rosewill 500 watt PSU which I beleive to be the problem but am not sure. There is no performance drop in the game before shut down it just powers off.

I would say your video card is getting too hot and shutting the system down. I take it the card only has a heatsink and no fan? Try a different video card that has a cooling fan.

The card does have a small fan on it not a very good one though. I unplugged the second monitor from the card and tried the game and had no issues. If I try to do two screens though it always shuts down. So I guess its time to invest in a better video card.

I had the same problem. dodgy power supply. changed it out for a decent one and the shutoffs never happened again.

When a system reboots during heavy 3D work its rebooting when power consumption is peaking. Your system would run just fine the rest of the time.

Try rigging a temperature fan onto your video card and see if it still shuts down. If it does then it's probably the powersupply's fault. Rosewill isn't exactly a quality brand.
