Bottom mounted PSU on a dirty floor?

I'm using a HAF 932 case, with a XFX PSU mounted at the bottom. I installed the PSU with the intake fan (I believe the large green fan is intake) pointed towards the ground so it sucks the cool air in, instead of using hot air already inside the case. I personally prefer bottom mounted PSU's, easier cord management, and makes the case less top heavy (I accidentally knocked my old computer over because for some reason it was very top heavy and unstable).

I'm concerned that it might suck up too much debris though, as my floor can get very dirty, very fast. I have three cats and my room for some reason builds up a lot of dust even though I routinely clean it. So I'm worried with it being in a corner of my room it will suck up all kinds of cat hair and dust.

Is this really a concern? I don't know if the fan is even powerful enough to suck those things up. If it is something worth worrying about, what are some solutions? I've thought about building a small wooden stand which will lift it a little off the ground, and also thought about adding a fine mesh filter near the vent. Any other ideas?

I've also been considering adding a optional fan down there as well, since my floor is constantly ice cold (Basement room) it seems like a waste to not use one.

I have one cat, and my computer routinely gets demoted to the floor for more desk space; and my case picks up dust and cat hair better than a swiffer pad :D Yours being floor mounted will probably increase that factor, then again I've never had a case with a fan on the bottom! My recommendation is to get a fan filter for it, most filters I've dealt with can be removed & replaced somewhat easily.

if you don't have any filter it will pick up dust and could lead to some issues eventually (not likely to be immediate). i would just mount it regularly. the air in the case shouldn't harm the psu. you'll probably upgrade well before it burns out because of the temperature. but a filter would also work if you are set on mounting it upside down. should prevent most of the dust collection.

I'd love to be able to put it on my desk, but its way too big. I use two monitors so there really is no space available..... at all.

I'll look into those fan filters for sure, though I hope I can find some which aren't disposable and are meant to last.

does that case have holes that already go all the way through or would you be drilling them yourself?

It already has the holes that normal fan vent would have, and a small metal mount for the PSU so its not sitting directly on the bottom of the case.

Those would be perfect, didn't think those even existed. It makes a lot sense that they do though.

I need to buy a few small things off newegg soon anyways, so I'll add a few filters to my cart since they're so cheap.

Thanks for the quick help.

I have the same problem. I have the NZXT M59 and it has a dust filter for the psu but every week or so I have to clean it out because otherwise it will undervolt my cpu from not getting enough air for the PSU for to function properly.
