Toshiba HDD interface

I have a friend whose girlfriend's laptop crash and has viruses and shit and won't boot up. I got the HDD out and it is a Toshiba MK4026GAX. It is NOT a SATA HDD, so it leave me with an IDE drive. The problem is that I don't have an external IDE drive reader and is there any way of reading these drives (if it IS IDE) other than an IDE external drive reader (which i don't have)

Other than buying a usb adapter for laptop hard drives there is no other way to read it.

did you try running the factory recovery, that is built into a hidden partion on the toshibas, if you still have it put the original hard drive back in and while its booting up hold f8 key.
