No on the same partition.

I thought 7 sucked on old single core cpu's, but new multicore cpus with lots of Ram it runs ok.

I do prefer XP though, I did keep 7 on one seldom used computer just to keep up with the changes.

There are a lot of advantages...
-XP isn't updated anymore, so security wise, it isn't as good.
-7 I've seen run on older machines better than XP, in most cases.
-7 has better driver support (good for printers and such).
-If you can get 64-bit, get 7. 64-bit XP sucked.
-Like Vista, 7 has file indexing for fast searching.
-7 is more stable (tends to BSoD less).
-Things are more 'snappier'. They'll open faster because 7 keeps them in RAM.
-Little things, like 'snapping' windows to fits sides of your screen, etc.
-New Internet Explorer and Paint (and other MS apps).
-A better backup system.

Those are the big ones off the top of my head. Of course, all of this only applies if you have a strong enough machine to handle 7 (It doesn't take a whole lot, but, really old hardware sometimes doesn't work.

To expand upon your last sentence, it was a bear to get the drivers working on the machine in my sig link, but most of the time XP drivers ran in compatibility mode or "Unsigned drivers mode" will work in most cases.

-Nope, they cant share on the same partition.
I suggest you try windows 7. At least you will be familiar with the latest OS from windows...

I like to disagree with you (raoul_1101). Windows XP x64 does not suck. In the beginning of it. It may have, but not now. It is a very stable OS, and I have been running it for 2.5 yrs now. It came out before it's time. And I will be running it till they don't support it anymore.
Windows 7 is what Vista should have been, get the x64 bit Ultimate or professional. If you buy it.
