Thats all the world needs, more consumerism.

Lets not forget the average literacy age for the British is about 8. The perverse outcomes of this are endless! How about quality food first hey? I do believe (as per the cut down MS Windows product) this fails to realise the massive gap required to convert this tool into somthing socially and economically productive. Environmentally its a disaster. But, i am happy to be proven wrong.

I'm all for it and there are charities around the World that do similar things. You have to wonder though about security issues with older equipment and possibly less educated people. In (other?) poor countries it's not such an issue because people don't have bank accounts, much money and often no address (although they may have cellphones and widescreen TVs).

I'd love to see election issues go online (which won't happen until everyone has access). That will stick it to the politicians whose favour for special interest groups (primarily themselves) will end.

I somewhat think this won't work. The majority of homes have PC's nowadays in the UK. The actual problem with getting the majority of people online is the price (for quite a crap service in comparison to America, for example) for the Internet subscription. it's all good and well offering those without PC's a simple PC for that price but then if they can just about afford a PC for that price how are they expected to afford a monthly subscription for the internet at around a minimum of £15 - £20 a month for a usual miminimal contract time of a year to 18 months? I'm sure if the majority of brittish people wanted to be on the Internet by now they would be.

This country is anti-social enough without giving the small minority of people that still walk to places to do things a new reason not to venture out. Let them discover it on their own accord, should they wish to, I say.

So, because of the above, I find her goal quite pointless. Besides, you can pick up some old, refurbished but usable for general Internet use for that price from pawn shops, places like Cash Converters etc already.
