I would say the iPhone. I have an iPod touch and its great. But either way, you'll be happy I think.

I'm a huge fan of Andorid phones, but if you're going to get one I would suggest something by HTC (my personal favorite) or Motorola. The Galaxy S is a beautiful piece of technology, however Samsung is very bad about OS updates. Typically newer Android builds come last to Samsung phones if at all.

I have to agree Sumsung is slow to update. I am currently stuck with android 2.1 waiting for 2.2 with flash. Who knows when or if it might happen.

iPhone could be a nice choice.. It has more cool app.. although a samsung with an android OS isn't bad as well..

The galaxy S is sweet! Honestly dont worry about Samsungs slow update cycle. There are plenty of custom Roms out there (im running Cognition ATM) and if you ever need to send your phone in for any reason you can use Odin 1-click to do a factory restore and your back to square one.

Custom roms alone is a great reason to get the galaxy over the iphone. I myself prefer HTC, much harder to brick(practically impossible actually). Love my legend, running android 2.3.2 thanks to cynageonmod.

I would always go for an Android over the iPhone, any day - Android smartphones are so much more customisable and the software and apps on them get updated quite regularly.

I agree with other members who say that Samsung are slower to update the main OS than other phone manufacturers. Froyo 2.2 doesn't seem that much different to Eclair 2.1 anyway, and I love my Samsung Galaxy S.

This is hardly an issue when you can install custom roms...my friends galaxy s has gingerbread on it.

Considering this thread is 4 months old, what phone did you get leetdingo?

Those phones are both single core 1ghz processors, with only 512mb of ram, running on slow 3g networks..... Why not get a HTC thunderbolt? Its a 4g smartphone with 768mb of ram and Dual core 1ghz processor, with 4g data speed...

i would say both phones are as good as each other and should be down to personal preference, the samsung have a slightly cheaper feel to it but still a fantastic phone by all means, basically pick your side iOS or Android
