Here are my PC's specs:
ASUS M3A76 motherboard
AMD Phenom II Quad Core 3.2 Ghz
4 Gb of DDR2 Ram
450Watt power supply
Nvidia 9500GT(DDR2) Graphics card
I run on 1920x1080 23 inch high deff monitor Res on a SVGA cable

I was wondering if i got a GeForce GTX 470 if it would work with motherboard and if would increase my gaming framerate

The 9500GT is a major bottleneck if your wanting to game,GTX 470 will be a huge upgrade, although i would wait a few days and see what the GTX 560 brings.

And about that PSU you have,im almost certian that you will need to replace that aswell.

What exactly is your system specs though? What Phenom 2 do you have?

Go for at least a 5770, preferably 5850 if you want to game properly on 1920x1080.

Couple that with at least a decent 500W PSU.

more specificly its a Phenom II X4 955
And as Resurrection said below you, would an AMD 5850 be better than its equivilant Nvidia card? I think this would be logical to assume since its an AMD proccessor and has some sort of graphical inhancement built into it that i don't understand very well. Your thoughts?

As a general rule of thumb, the price/performance of AMD vs Nvidia is nearly the same. However the AMD cards tend to be less power hungry and thus generate less heat.

Depending on your motherboard's chipset, you might be able to enable Crossfire with your integrated graphics although its impact is minimal.
