Looking to buy this computer just wondering if its a good deal...500$


Custom built computer includes, 22" widescreen HD monitor, Series S1000 Speakers, Keyboard and wireless mouse.

Windows 7 Professional
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 4850e 2.49 GHz
8.00 GB Ram
64-bit Operating System
297GB Memory
Video card is an ati highbrid crossfire amd radio 780g chipset dx10 ps 4.0

well the cpu aint that good and the storage space is a little low, but it well enough.



Btw the RAM is a little overkill

297GB memory, or HDD? Because memory is RAM, and yes i agree with Steinbert, 8GB is a bit much, unless you plan to use powerful software, which i doubt considering your CPU

hmmm... the RAm is defiantly overkill for that CPU. but *calcualtes how much in £* wow thats quite a good deal never the less. Depends what you would what it for tho, not rreally for powerful aming but good never the leass.

Having so much RAM is too much unless you are performing some crazy graphical programming or video editing or gaming that requires so much RAM memory.
Besides what's the point of so much RAM memory if the processor isn't so good?Processor is even more important then the RAM so I would rather have 4 GB of RAM or less,but have stronger processor.

Would i be able upgrade the cpu??

I think its 200gb hd. The guy doesn't know much about computers and has it posted on craigslist atm.

Id like to use to it to play some games. Idc about high graphics. Low settings dont bother me so as long as i can use it for a while for that i'm happy

It depends on what socket and motherboard it has as to if the cpu can be upgraded.

btw its probably a 320 GB drive with 297 free.

Okay. Well i could always invest for a new motherboard too considering just the monitor is 200 dollars or so. So for everything at 500 bucks isn't a bad price???

I don't know guys. I'm not feelin' it. It's pretty weak. That's a pretty old chipset on that mb. Old tech all around. It's ddr2 and the top of the heap cpu it will support is the 940 I believe. Good cpu, but hard to find anymore. The 8gb ram won't make it faster. There's no dedicated vc, only the mb's igp -which HD 3200 is ok, but don't expect much from it, like games. If the mb's replaced, you can add another $100 for Windows 7 cuz the one on the hdd won't play on the new mb. I doubt you could add a vc because, what ps does it have? And the cpu is restricting. To up-date/grade this system you would need to buy everything/including os/, except maybe the hdd and case.

Is $500 the amount you want to spend?

A 22" monitor isn't $200. Here's a 23" led backlit for $150.

I'm wanting to get a decent computer but not rape myself in money. 500 was a good sounding price. I just want something that'll work for me for a year or so without having to spend a lot ha. I play WoW and was interested in the new star wars game and such nothing to fancy. I wanted to just have a something fast and something could run things on med/low settings. I can build and take apart a computer but I don't know to much about the inter workings of what can mesh together so buying the components myself would be a bad idea ha.

You could build your own (decent) pc for $500. If you dont need to pay for a monitor and windows that is, but you could use an lcd tv for a monitor? and im sure there are people on ebay selling windows xp new for a cheap price. And that way you could build it to the specs you want, without having to upgrade anytime soon. And i'v never build a pc before, but i have now, there are loads of vids on youtube explaining how to do it, then there is this post http://www.computerforum.com/104641-how-build-computer-step-step-photos.html, that should give you all the info you need.
