It should be alright to do it like that. I set my mobo on a table with a towel as not to damage the back of it. The only tip I can give you is take your time and be patient. Make sure to use the right number of stand-offs in your case so you don't short out the mobo.

I always install the CPU and memory before putting the board in the case. The CPU cooler, depends. A bigger CPU cooler is easier to install out of the case. But its so big that it blocks any motherboard screw holes you have to install the board first.

thanks for the help yeh i was planning to put those in before i put it in the case, also the corsair 600t case has stand-offs already inserted, i was wondering once i have installed the os what are the drivers i need to install apart from installing the disk that came with the mobo and and going on to the nvidia website and installing the graphics card driver??

Go to the moterboards site and download the latest drivers, the ones on the CD might be slightly older. And yes use the latest drivers from Nvidia for your card.

so are those the only things i will need to instal drivers for? and do i really need to install the motherboard drivers?

Yes, you'll want the motherboard drivers. That'll be stuff like your sound, extra ports if you have them(USB 3.0, firewire, etc), RAID controllers (some of your SATA ports), and other stuff like that.

It may or may not have the lastest bios. The newest is 01/17/11. Look in your bios for the version and update that if you don't have the latesst one, since the 01/17/11 seems to have a couple improvements. The others, chipset, lan, audio, etc, you can load those latest ones from the site instead of the disk.

When I build my computer next week, the first thing I do when I turn it on is go into the BIOS and have it boot from my optical drive first right? So I can install my windows 7 ultimate OS. Then after that, I just download the newest drivers for my gpu and motherboard on the internet? Am I missing anything? Thanks.
