Split Online Files Service?

Is there any site which provides a service to split online files? I, mean splitting a file which is already on the internet. Its OK, if it create temporary links.

Are you referring to file that are on your website or FTP server? What do you mean by splitting a file? Are you referring to a process like WinRAR or HJSplit? Why can't you download the file (if you don't have it), do what you need to do and upload the new files and web pages or links?

I mean if there is a file on a site, which is say 500 mb and I want to split it online only and not by downloading and then splitting.
Splitting would be sane as done by Hjsplit or winrar.

What server are these files on, or will be on? Most servers can run scripts these days although you may have to ask to upload one.

These are some holiday travel videos, which I want to share with a friend of mine. i have uploaded them on skydrive as well as on filesonic, but he can't download them due to their size. I don't want to split and upload again due to limit of b/w.

I don't know of any application that will do that. You could look around those hosts and see if they have any file utilities.

What is the reason for the size limit? Bandwidth per day? Email inbox limit?

Another route would be to download the video to a site that does have a splitting facility or can run the HJSplit php script. I doubt you have the capability to do that.

The files are already on the Internet. You indicated the other person had the issue that's why I was asking what (their) problem was.
