I want to transfer my Microsoft Office 2007 from my laptop to my desktop then delete it off my laptop. What files do I need to transfer in order to get this to work without issues?

I think you can transfer settings into the new install if you have done some customization. Google for procedures or apps to do it.

As Broni has said, Office would have to be reinstalled as it puts entries in the registry that make it work correctly.

There used to be a "Save My Settings" Wizard in Office that would transfer your custom settings. That was removed in Office 2007. Now you have to do it using the Windows User State Migration Tool. I came across some apps that do the same thing but the above is free.

I think you may just be able to copy the (hidden) AppData folder from one computer to the next. Not positive if it would work with Office but I've used this method for several other programs and all of the settings transferred over.

I think maybe he was addressing the OP...
I don't think so, not a second time.

You may be right about the appdata folder. I don't know enough either. I happened to look at my Corel Draw appdata folders last night for two different versions. They are similar but you would have to be in the know to be sure. As an example, the custom scripts start off with:
WITHOBJECT "CorelPhotoPaint.Automation.13"
so if you move them manually to the next rev of the app the 13 has to be changed in every script.

I am not interested in moving just the settings. I want to move the whole program. I am thinking a back door would be to get the Product Key off the laptop and use my wife's Microsoft Office 2007 installation disks with that key to install.

I can get the key using the MagicJellyBean keyfinder.

Yes it's possible to do this.
Here is how:

-plug some external HDD in that laptop and turn it on...
-load Ubuntu OS on that laptop, create empty folder on the external HDD and copy ALL HDD contents to the external HDD in that folder...
-after the copying is finished, turn off the laptop and unplug that external HDD...
-format HDD in the desktop computer and install THE SAME Windows OS which you use on your laptop...
-plug the external HDD in that desktop computer...
-now load Ubuntu OS on that desktop computer, copy all the data from the external HDD and replace it over the data on the HDD in that desktop computer...
-after the copying is finished, turn off the desktop computer and unplug the external HDD...
-TRY TO TURN ON THE DESKTOP COMPUTER AND SEE IF WINDOWS OS WORKS.IF YES YOU ARE DONE SO JUST INSTALL THE DRIVERS TO FINISH ALL.IF IT DOES NOT WORK,PROCEED WITH THE NEXT STEPS:

---> boot your Windows OS CD/DVD disk...
---> perform the REPAIR process of your Windows OS to adjust the registry data to your desktop computer hardware...
---> after the REPAIR process is finished, your Windows OS will work...
---> install the drivers...

The End...

Now you have ALL THE SAME on your desktop computer as you have on the laptop including the Microsoft Office and EVERYTHING ELSE.:D

Cheers dude!

If you buy OEM office or student edition the answer is no, the license is tied to the computer you installed it on. If you buy retail or corporate license, then yes you can uninstall it and install it on any other computer.

Also student and OEM licenses are not available for upgrade either. Then again, I highly doubt MS would ever audit you.

I transferred Microsoft Office 2007 to a new computer. I used the Magic Jellybean Keyfinder to get the key off the laptop. I then used that key with an 2007 Office installation disk to install it on my desktop.

OpenOffice is now going on the laptop to replace the uninstalled Microsoft Office 2007.
