Which MacBook Should I Buy?

Avoid the macbook it's had the same hardware for a while now. Get the Macbook pro or Macbook Air depending on what you do. the MBA is more of a complimentary device like the iPad IMO.

New MacBooks have just been released today. If you're holding off due to OS X Lion, you can purchase now, and then once it's released, you'll receive a free upgrade.

Tlarkin always use to argue that here in the laptop section when someone would say I want to buy a Mac and a huge argument started as always about it so I would assume he is talking about the laptops being ips, since the person was inquiring about mac books and it is under this section.

Well then he was either wrong or referring to the iMacs. None of the Macbook's have IPS screens, period. If you can prove me wrong I will eat my toenail clipping and post the vid on youtube :p

And you're right, Apple should have brought 1080p to iTunes 3 years ago when everyone bought a 1080p TV. But Apple is the definition of stubborn, and way too far up it's own ass to care about what their customers think. It's kinda like how they refuse to support flash on the iOS devices.

Either way Apple should have brought 1080p to there itunes a long time ago, Zune has had 1080p videos for a long while now and it is even better for us xbox owners being zune works on there too so no need to hook up a laptop.

Either way for the price you cannot beat a PC in performance and Windows is no where near as bad as the Vista days. Plus if you want something new looking, more secure and tones of free software I always say look into Linux then being Ubuntu works with 99% of mobile devices and has a open source app to replace the Window or Apple app you were using, maybe not as nice but gets the job done and is free.

Plus with sites like System76, Linuxcertified and the limited Dell selection there is no excuse of well I don't want to install it myself.

Speedyink is right only the iMacs,iPad and ACD use IPS displays.

I am fine with the lack of IPS screen in the Macbooks, one less thing they have to justify there price.

dont, if you want to waste your money ill give you my paypal address :)

The question should be, do you want to use the iOS or the mac hardware. If it is the later prepare to pay 1.5 x the cost for the same stuff at least. If you simply want to use mac os, then google the various workarounds.

I would take Android before iOS. Just don't care for the iphone, ipad or itouch very much.

Android products are cheaper, can do as much and runs on every OS including Ubuntu or other Linux flavors using rythmbox or Banshee. Plus they are self sufficient, not needing something like itunes. All Android products do not require a PC for setup or adding items too.

I agree. Who's heard of a smart phone that can't download and save a file off the internet? Doesn't sound too smart to me.

Lol, we geeks don't take restrictions. We want our file control and we want it NOW. :)

When you browse the files on an Android phone, you can really tell that it's based on the linux core. A lot of the root directories are the same. It's still a bit more restrictive than a desktop linux OS (including the fact that you have to root it and void your warranty to do some stuff), but hey, it's a phone. :p

Until I looked just now I always thought your user name was speedylink. Haha.

regardless, I can't figure out why the lot of you are so against apple. I admit, they aren't quite my taste, but for the vast majority that use their products, you hear nothing but good things. The phones and the computers alike, people love them. And yeah there are fan boys who swear by the brand, but I convince people every day to switch to apple, and so many of them come back to me and thank me telling me they absolutely love their computer. Once again, I own no apple product of my own. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't be willing to pay extra for the stability of the OS all its own. Yeah, you can use work arounds to get it on a regular PC, but it's designed to work with the parts apple uses. And it all the more proves that the OS is something people want that there are work arounds for it at all. anyway, one or more of you will have something to say about it more.

But, just so you know, while this a decent size community of people who are rather tech savvy. there are hundreds of thousands of people in the world who aren't going to look at a mac and say "you can get the same thing on a pc/ you can do the same thing on a pc". They are just going to see a computer that works and works well.

edit: and really?!? it's a phone. what are phones for? phone calls. Being a smart phone just means that you have a variety of ways to communicate with others, whether it be text, email, web, facebook, skype, or what have you. Why do you think it voids the warranty to do certain things on an android? Cause even google doesn't want you messing with things that have no business being messed with. For what god forsaken reason do you need to overclock a phone??

I guess I'm a bit biased. I actually use my droid for everything but phone calls. I don't even have it activated on verizon: I just use wifi. I put together a whole google voice workaround that gives me unlimited free calls and free texts (in a wifi zone), but it still has no plan. I use it as a really awesome handheld computer, which allows me to play flash games. For one of those games, it helps to overclock. I guess I'm a bit of an odd scenario, though. :)

On a side note, I believe I'm digressing this thread.

I am not against Apple, just the users that usually don't know what they are talking about or intentionally spreading lies. I have got many people on my ship to switch to Ubuntu and I don't lie to them on the up's and down's with it.

Plus it is nice to have a phone that can do about 90% of what a netbook can do when you are so mobile.

Um, isnt this thread about macbooks not iOS and ANDROID...

Umm, I think threads can can go in any direction as long as the question was answered. Threads are mean't for talking and if we did not debate issues everyonce in a while then we would not know as much as we do know. Example being I thought Mac books had IPS screens and I found out they don't which means I can really say they are over priced now cause the Mac Book doesn't have anything to really justify the price. Also since Apple makes more then computers I think we don't have to ansewer how it went of subject onto other products.

A lot of people think my name says that..

I'm not against Apple, I'm against the fact the people say it is the best, no matter what. How does one justify this? When there are so many different and unique people in the world, saying the anything made by Apple is the best simply because you like Apple is crap.

As for the phone comment, the demograph you are suggesting is exactly what the Blackberry is for. True smart phones are supposed to be like computers, and they have been trying to do so since their inception. If you want to talk and text, get a nokia flip phone, but leave us geeks to our advanced computer like Android phones. We are more then happy with them.
