Hey all i recieved GoW today and to my dissapointment i cant max it, iv patched it, iv tweaked the config file but nada.

Any way in dx9 mode i can get everything set to max with little to no stutter for the majority of the gameplay

My question is, do games look better in dx 9 full settings or dx 10, low to medium settings?

i cant tell the difference tbh :/

Also does any one know a fix?
Or is it just hardware that is the problem and im expecting to much from my outdated tower?

Last question...does anyone play this online, i tried finding a game but couldnt find any one online :p

This is incredbily unhelpful, as i can't remember what the fix was, but i seem to remember there is a setting you need to disable that makes a huge hit on your FPS with little to no difference on the visuals. Some googling will help.

I had the same problem, despite having a more than adaquate system

Was it the rendering something or other fix? (even more unhelpful :p) i tried that but to no avail.

The weird thing is the game is capped at 64 fps i think, and for the majority with everything maxed i get 62 fps, occasionally drop to 40 but when it is in the 40's its very choppy.

this happens in a few other games, fallout 3, cod 4,5,6 and i think thats about it :p

Im seriously thinking its my cpu

EDIT: does anyone know what hardware should be able to max this?

what sort of set up should i be looking at for a consitent 62 fps?

you shouldn't be experiencing choppy game play with a rate of 40 fps, only under 25 fps should you start to notice choppy game play i maxed out everything when i was using my HD4670 and on dragon age, for example, frame rate would be on 30fps or just below most of the time and gameplay was perfectly smooth.
You sure you are getting 40 FPS when it is choppy?

Yeah, hundred percent sure, i had fraps running and i was noticing choppyness as high as 50 fps at somepoints. Sometimes it would be because of a fluctuation in fps and other times it would be consistant but still shoppy, thats only when i play dirext x 10 though.

I get the same frame rates on dx 10 as dx 9, but dx 10 is practically unplayable due to the choppyness.

Iv updated dx10, my gpu drivers are upto date and drivers for everything else.

I guess ill have to play in dx 9 lol.

Yeah this is exactly what happened to me. The frame-rate was fine, but the game was chopping like crazy.

Sorry, i can't for the life of me remember what i did to get around it, but i know i didn't have to change any hardware
