I just got done with my first build and I plan on making another in the future. I didn't want to make another computer similar to mine, so I was thinking maybe I should build a computer then install the Mac OS on it. It might not be as big on gaming, but that's what my first build is for. Also I heard Final Cut is amazing. Do you think it's a good idea? Also if it helps my built computer is a dual boot of Windows and Ubuntu.

Instaling OSX on anything other than an Apple computer violates Apple's EULA

what you are asking is breaking Forum rules, and the law.

Can't talk about the Mac thing here due to it is against the law, but I do support your dual boot Linux idea. Ubuntu is very nice with a ton of software available to it but I do recommend something different. If you want a OS that come nicely packaged and has a very powerful tool know as yast I recommend opensuse and for appearance reasons I recommend KDE. Know if you want one that will teach you the command line cause it has a lot of software but it comes stripped down then recommend Fedora.

all it takes is time, most of the time, assuming you have a supported video card, chipset, processor, and the right disks.
But then again, none of us actually do this ;):D

It's not easy to get OS X working on a PC anyways.

QFT - OS X is built on specific hardware specs. There will be driver issues amongst stability and other issues as well. Updating the OS is not recommended.

To be honest, a hackintosh is really just something that is cool to do once and that is about it. Unless Apple starts licensing and supporting PC hardware for their OS I suggest you just go buy a Mac.

I had a spare drive and OSX disc kicking around so for shits and giggles I installed it on my laptop. Needless to say it didn't work very well.

Here is my question, is it illegal to build a Hackintosh? I don't think so, cause you can buy anything and alter it in anyway you want. I know for a fact it is illegal to build a Hackintosh and then sell for money.

Please no your American rights people, American since it is a American based company. I could build a Hackintosh tomorrow go up to Steve jobs and show him and as long as I am not selling it to other people. This is why if you google it there are so many web sites on the Hackintosh cause Apple can shut down a idea of a product being altered as long as it is not being sold for a profit.

As I said before know your right before you claim it is illegal, it is however illegal to discuss on this forum because this is a public club that can set up its own rules but they are not illegal in the U.S.

Right, you can't go to jail for installing an Apple OS on a PC and using it for your own non-commercial purposes. All you're doing is violating their license agreement. As stated, discussing this is not allowed at CF.
