all computers got soaked with water

I had a water pipe in my home office broke because the ATT guy installing a simple phone jack drilled through the wood floor with a two foot drill bit, he hit one of the copper water pipes under the house. It was gushing water like a fire hose. All of my computers were sooked, some had water coming out. Since the ATT guy was in shock standing near the hole just watching all the water poring out of the hole and could not move. I was rushing around trying to get them out of my office. We had just moved in and none were hooked up. My Q is will they still work as before, also had other large screens that got wet, so I had 3 large screen , 2 towers, ( one cost over 8K ) and 4 laptops. Just need to know if they will start to erode inside, fail latter, etc I have an adjuster from ATT coming over and wanted some back up from the pros.
Thanks

Very iffy if those machines will work. ATT would be buying me all new equipment. Electronic equipment don't take too well to water damage.

To answer the question, they may work, they may not. If they completely dried out before being turned on you might get lucky. Squeeze ATT for as much as you can :p.

Seriously. I wouldn't even bother seeing if they do work (unless you have important information on them), Even then though, ATT should be paying to replace all the equipment as well as any tech support you need in order to get your systems up and running like they were before.

don't forget to charge for emossional distress or whatever and time too, could've been making money instad of court. Also comcast is better. but for the q, i'd say make sure they are dry and blow cool air on them or warm, not too hot though, so the water evaporates preventing more damge if you turn itt on and there was water it could short one thing out and that one thing could take the rest with it.

water, water, water

I want to THANK all of you for the great anwers. This is what I also think, work or not on start up, work ok for 6 weeks then a total melt down. ATT really screwed up. It took for ever to get the phones installed, it was a major pain and stress for both my wife and me. All we had were cell phones (that only had 1 bar showing and we drroped a lot of calls.) Anyway Im almost sure they will completey replace the computers, but I also think they should kick in more bucks for all we went thru, sufered, and they are not even done yet.

OK so, what amount for P&S do you think I should ask for.

BTY: I still do not have internet. We set up the transfer of the phones and the DSL weeks before the move. And I still have no internet service Iam using the cell phone hook up.on a laptop that was not in the office at the time.
Thanks again,

One more thing, Iam sure they will drag this out as far as they can. But I also use my computes for my work. So the money needs to come in fast so I can work aany lawyers out their.
This brings up another issue, what to buy as replacements, any ideas here on what to get.

After AT&T adjuster comes out i would consider hiring my own insurance adjuster. They will come out with a magnifying glass. I promise there will be a difference in money. Good luck with that one. I would not be accepting anything soon either.
I would be all over that one for stupid. And a call to there corp headquarters.

Also your insurance adjuster will also anticipate problems that may arise in the future.
This has to be considered too. 10 yrs down the road. Do it right. Also don't be quick to accept anything they offer. They will try to give you a quick buy out.

Are you concerned about the computers only? How much water in the house?

Don't worry about the computer parts. If you dry them all out COMPLETELY BEFORE you turn them on,they will work perfectly.Hell I wash my old dirty computer parts in a dishwasher, dry them all in a hot room for 48 hours minimum and then use them again already for years and never EVER had any problems :p

By the way what kind of the dumb ass is working on your phone lines when it is taking THAT long?!Plus he did you a huge damage!Man if I were you I would kick his ass and ask him to replace ALL that he destroyed lol!!!
You should consider your self lucky though...because here where I live, you would NOT get a replacement for ANYTHING and ALSO they would NOT pay you ANY money.....God I hate my country!

Don't count too much on emotional suffering lol...that doesn't work that well as you might think :p

Just water won't damage them, just don't do something stupid like turn them on. Take what you can apart and put them somewhere warm and dry and let everything dry out completely over several days. 99% of the time if someone drops a phone, ipod, ect in water or they get wet the first they do is turn it back on to see if it still works frying everything in the process. Most the time if you let something dry out completely then it'll work again. Few weeks ago I accidentally sent my Zune HD through the washer and dryer. It was on at the time and I was PISSED since I'd only had the thing about a week. Let it sit out on my coffee table that sits in the sun all day for about a week and tried it out and it's worked fine ever since. Done the same thing with god knows how many phones.

If you don't feel comfortable doing that then stick ATT with the bill, might be worth doing anyway.

This is probably the most sound advice in this thread.
