If not mistaken, you said this was a modem/router combo unit in another thread correct? Is this dsl or cable internet? Look at the lights on the modem and see if any are turning red. If you got a new modem and its still doing it, it could be a filter issue somewhere in the house or your provider is having issues.

Here in the States, DSL filters are required to be attached to each phone extension in the home. The filters block the interference from disturbing the dsl signal. Not sure if they are required in the UK or not. I've also seen where a bad network card in a pc can cause issues like this.

Here in Aus we mostly get a central filter installed on the main point in the house, it's basically a wall mounted filter/splitter. Seeing as it's DSL, when you're having issues, look at the lights. There should be ones like:

ADSL/DSL/Connection
Internet/Connectivity - sometimes represented by a globe icon.
Numbers 1-4 for ethernet connections and wireless might be WLAN

When you're having issues, look at the lights and tell us what they're doing. If you can't access the internet and the DSL/ADSL light is blank, it means the modem dropped sync and needs to reconnect.
