Software removal

I recently upgraded my office 2007 to 2010. For some reason it installed the 32 bit version on my 64 bit machine now I can't uninstall 2010 as it says it is not the right language for my machine. Also windows update keeps trying to install updates for 2010 32bit.
I am using vista 64 bit.

I do not understand what the problem is with Office 32 bit running on a 64 bit system. It works fine. Office 2010 has just been released in 64 bit format. If you wanted to go that route it would mean a new purchase of Office. The gain would be negligible. Have a look at the following sites for more info.

The main reason is app compatibility, which is why 32-bit Office 2010 is recommended even on 64-bit Windows. There are very few if any 64-bit add-ins for Office. For a more thorough discussion on the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit Office, please take a look at these docs:

2010 is an upgrade version. When I ran the install program all seemed to be ok except that instead of upgrading 2007 to 2010 it installed 2010 and left 2007 as well. I tried to uninstall 2010 to try a re install but the uninstaller said it was unable to remove 2010 as it was in a language not compatable with my machine. I thought it was reffering to 32 bit or 64 bit but obviously that is not the case.
