For the price, I would definitely go for it. But, I would also highly consider the HD7970.

But, I am personally waiting for the new nVidia GPU's to hit the market and upgrade to one of them along with one of the Ivy bridge chips. The nVidia GPU's are expected to blow the current 5xx series out of the water. Just something to think about.

7950 is as fast if not faster and probably the same price. $550 is expensive for a 580 these days.

To be honest, with 470s in SLI, you are better off spending money on a Z68 mobo and ivy bridge/sandy bridge CPU.

yeah, i was looking at the 7 series by amd. i know they say they perform well and better than the gtx 580, but i have just had bad experiences with ati/amd with driver issues, to stuttering and lag, and i am using adobe premiere cs5.5, so nvidia would be better for me since it has cuda and i can use adobe with it. ive already sold my 2 x gtx 470's, and my corsair gs800 power supply took a dive on me, so i replaced it with a gs700. it only has 2 x pci-e plugs, unlike the gs800 which had 4. the gtx 580 3gig version from evga requires 2 x 8pin + 1 x 6 pin. could i just use the 2 x 8 pin plugs that the power supply already had, and then just add a 4 pin molex to 6 pin PCI-E adaptor for the 6 pin input on the card? the power supply has 56 amps on the 12v. either way, i need to have an nvidia card. in april, which ever card i get im selling it along with this gs700 to a friend, along with my 1090t. so at that time i will be getting a bigger power supply, most deffinatly a modular one, a new video card, and some sort of i series cpu. i guess i could hold of on the 580 for now...i just thought that the evga classified 580 was pretty good. its built better than any other 580 so it seems, and is clocked at 900Mhz. but since im going to be selling which ever card i get anyways in april, and the person who is buying it dont play games, then i suppose i dont need to go that high end of a card right now. soany other opinion or thoughts. thanks guys
