I would say that the GTX680 is a better card. The performance is a toss up it seems, the 680 being slightly more powerful it seems, but the 680 is cheaper. $499.99 compared to $549.99 on newegg right now.

i dont think people can really make a generalization till a month after release, drivers are in infancy right now, but yea, the nvidia card is faster...and likely will get better with optimized drivers.

Yeah, pretty sure if you consider these un-optimized drivers, lower price, and already slightly better performance, the 680 wins hands down. There was a new review on tom's with sli and overclocking vs. the 7970 in crossfire, and it basically killed it (didn't look at overclocking though)

Thanks for your comments upon it!
I'm just looking for a new card, and can't decide which one I should buy.
Thanks to your entries, I made my decision ;)

Also, that was a paper launch. The price of the GTX 680 will be closer to the price of the Radeon 7970 when it is in healthy supply.

I have a barely decent computer, it can run some games and some other stuff. I have a good video card, and I wanted to hook another monitor up to it. I tried it, and it made my games lag too much. I asked my brother (who is very computer smart) if the video card that is built into the computer when you buy it (if you order it pre-built) is deactivated when you put another video card in another slot. He told me yes, and I want to know if there is any way to use it while another video card is in place. Also, if I put another video card in another slot, will it make every game run faster, or only games that can recognize that the computer has two cards.
