If you can build one for under $250, why don't you just give us the list for us to look over? Because it seems like you're lying, otherwise you would have simply posted it for us to critique.

That said, I just made up a tower build for about $240 in my head with the lowest AMD APU. It's not pretty and it's essentially made up of the cheapest components possible in every category. Regardless, you're going to want to buy a used HDD for sure, and anything else you can find at a cheaper price. $250 just isn't a good price range for building (or buying pre-built for that matter). When you're down this far, even an extra $20 or $25 can make all the difference. Turn that $250 into $350 and it's an entirely different story...and that's extreme budget itself.

I don't play minecraft and don't know what is needed to play it at "fancy," whatever that is. Something tells me the graphics on an A4-3300 wouldn't quite cut it.

I think you misunderstood. I read it as they can spend 250, asking if it can be done for 250 and if so, list the components.

A system that can play Minecraft on Fancy like I play it on, well just to let you know that it may be done. Using lower CPU and GPU since my computer's 6150SE has issues running Minecraft on low settings with 64bit JAVA.

The only time I can run Minecraft flat out is with my XFX 5770 but you may be able to suffice with a 3870 or lesser GPU. For $250 I'd have to suggest a refurbished PC. Just ignore those HP DC7700's with the x1900/1550 GPU because it fails to run minecraft because of legacy drivers.

Minecraft system requirement's.

Any computer with the following hardware should suffice, however, for an enjoyable experience, we suggest looking at the Recommended Requirements.

Minimum Requirements :
CPU : Intel P4/NetBurst Architecture or its AMD Equivalent (AMD K7)
RAM : 256MB
GPU : ATI Rage or GeForce 256 with OpenGL 1.2 Support
HDD : At least 90MB for Game Core and Sound Files
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 and up is required to be able to run the game.

Recommended Requirements :
CPU : Core2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6GHz
RAM : 1GB
GPU : GeForce 66xx or ATI Radeon 9xxx and Up with OpenGL 2 Support (Excluding Integrated Chipsets)
HDD : 150MB

The system requirements are not really extreme, but please remember that Minecraft is extremely JAVA heavy. Just opened mine in the back ground to monitor it, already consuming 50% CPU and 800MB's memory on highest settings with my guy sitting in his little house on top of a mountain. Already hitting 900MB's of memory. Just playing around it consumes around 35% of my 5770's processing power and is sitting around 1GB of memory used, DDR2 800.

What OS are you running, you just simply mentioned Windows?

Mission Accepted. Tho with windows, it will be far beyond 250...if you can get a copy from school program or something, will put you near 300...

Since we're talking about extreme budgeting here, you could shave $17 off of both of the above builds if you left out the DVD drive, not needed to play Minecraft.

We have several netbooks in our family and they get along fine with no DVD drive.

Win to flash.

The requirements for windows 7 should be covered in the above mentioned build. But I've played Minecraft on several systems with built-in video card's. Overall they SUCK at running minecraft and I do not see how one could run Minecraft on Fancy settings.

You should check your local craigslist or something and perhaps you can find a decent, cheap, video card.

You are under estimating the amd apu. Intel 3000 on my friends laptop runs minecraft on fancy.

AWESOME! Im getting it! Im removing the dvd drive and changing to 4 gb ram to be able upgrade to the asrock a55 pro3 ATX mobo, because micro atx mobos are not good in terms of upgradabilty. Im planning on getting an lg flatron, nvidia gtx 560 (will be 660 when i get it) amd athlon fm1 with no graphics built in, and new psu to power it, and a new hdd within the next 2 years.

you should check Micro Center
amd fx-8120-$179
gigabyte ga-970a-ud3 am3+atx-$39
8gb kingston memory-$29
mid-tower case with 500w power supply-$36
totall=$283
or you can go with i5 simuler price

just my opinion

The A6 will do the job fine, just go with that. Don't let others steer you toward more expensive options. And my honest opinion is to go with 8 gig of ram, 4 gig is very limiting, especially with a 64-bit OS, and ram is so bloody cheap right now its silly not to.

I was simply underestimating the entire price tag of the system as a whole for running Minecraft at fancy settings, never suggested anything more expensive but personally I have played Minecraft on several systems. Overall I think I have a greater understanding of what Minecraft and Java 64bit needs to run @ the fancy settings.

I could be wrong, but if I am, prove it.

When system is built and runnin, i think that will prove it. Cant really prove it as i dont have access to the APU i had a few months ago when my admin box got taken away :p
