Windows 8 Install Problem?

Hey, as you may know, I've recently built (Somewhat) a new computer.
(The 9500GT and 80GB Hard drive have yet to be upgraded)
Current Specs:
i5 2500k
9500GT
80GB 7200RPM Drive
DVD-RW Drive
8GB (4GB each) G.Skill RAM

My problem is, when I put the DVD with the consumer preview iso burnt on it in and start up, it doesn't recognize it as a proper boot device. Can anyone explain why?

Thanks,

-Zach

I assume that you have the optical drive set first in the boot order so
Did you get the ISO from M$?
Did you burn the iso at slow speed?
Is the optical drive sata or pata?
If pata is the jumper set correctly.

What app did you burn the iso with?

Yes I got it from Microsoft.
I don't know how to tell if I burnt it at slow speed.
It's sata.

My Gentoo disk worked fine... I wonder if it's either that you can't do a fresh install of 8 or the disk itself.. I'll try writing it again.

I have done a couple of fresh installs with it.
I don't do "upgrades".
Some people have had issues doing the upgrade install and wind up doing it fresh.
I'm working on some things here so I will be in and out of the forum.

Well, good news, I found my old Dev Preview 64-bit DVD and it worked! Thanks for all the help though!

There is a big difference between the dev and consumer preview.

Oh I know, I've used the Dev preview before for at least a month. I was just gonna install it and use it to install the Consumer preview. But the Dev preview didn't work (The disk had a little crack in it.) So I'm burning a new Consumer preview copy to another DVD.

You know that you can also use a usb thumb drive and boot from that, then you dont have to waste dvd disks.

Oh I know, but the only working Flash drives I have are two 256mb drives and an in-use 4gb drive... I'm gonna order a 16GB one soon though. I decided to just cave in and order a copy of Windows 7 because I keep getting errors though.

Did you run a hash check on the downloaded iso?
In some other forums some people have tried with a corrupted download.
I hash checked mine before I burned it.
I burned it at the lowest speed that Nero had.
I like some things of W8cp but I doubt I will buy the final release because the differences between it and W7 won't be worth the price unless they make some big changes.
W8 is really for the mobile market or someone with a all-in-one.
