Defiantly need a widescreen monitor for 8, or when on the Apps page you got to scroll left and right to access everything. Though new computers probably only have widescreen monitors these days.

I won't replace my 4x3 monitors until they burn out.

I doubt I will install 8 on desktops unless someone asks for it. Once you get it configured to work on a Desktop it looks so much like Windows 7 that there is no point installing 8.

I still have most the people who request me build a new computer want XP installed anyway. As long as I can get motherboards providing XP Drivers, XP still has a bright future where I live.

Around here there are a couple of guys building and selling comps dirt cheap with new parts, W7, Office and games on Craigslist.

I called 2 of them and while asking about the specs I asked if they had a COA for the software.
1 offered me a discount without it... lol
The other claimed it was genuine and could show me it was, but he had no COA... lol
I told him I was going to report him to M$ so now he offers his comps with the new Windows 8, HeHe.

Congrats, You have just found a hidden message.

You legend. :D

No you should. The guy's selling computers with what would appear to be a pirated copy of Windows 7, that's illegal. I'm sure he could prove to you "it's genuine", but if he doesn't have a COA or key to sell you with the PC... no sale I say. :/

I have a feeling Microsoft are going to learn just how much eveybody hates tablet interfaces on desktops the hard way - with poor sales figures for Windows 8. At the moment I've only found a handful of people who like it. Microsoft should really start listening to what their customers want.

It's going to be like V-v-v-vista all over again. :/

I think they should make Windows XP 2, exactly like XP, but updated, directx11, improved kernel, but look exactly like good ol XP.

Just as long as they put out more 64-bit copies. I've been looking for one, but its hard to find one from someone trustworthy.

If they could do it and keep everything working the same, I would jump on that. XP is not my first choice, but its usable to me.

Oh and one other thing about XP, I didn't like that if you sometimes plugged in a device it asked you about drivers, either put a cd in or have it search for drivers. Sometimes searching didn't work and I didn't have a cd so that really bugged me. Windows 7 at least finds them automatically for you.

I will be getting Windows 7 Prof (retail) in December. Being on disability kind of limits when you get certain things. New video card in November and 7 in December, then my new build will be done. As of right now, I am running the Windows 8 RP build 8400 till I get Windows7. But, I really don't mind it. Really boots up fast and loads programs great. The only thing (problem) I have with it is. The old video card in here will reset from time to time. Even with the newest driver updates. I think it is a browser issue though, only happens when I am in a browser, doesn't matter which browser, I got FFox, IExplorer and Chrome. So I will be running this till December. Loaded this because with the type of my new motherboard it was easier than putting Windows XP Pro x64 back on. And I like testing programs.

I'll get Windows 8 just so I can figure out how it works and get used to it.

Not sure if I'll get it. I'll let Dad get it first and play with it on his PC before I upgrade from 7. 7 is working nicely for me, so I see no reason to upgrade to 8 really. I didn't really like the previews of it which I tried anyway. The lack of a Start button was a big turn off for me.
