I have HP desktop, I haven't use it for a while a week a go I restored it like new. Yesterday whenever I start it it shutdown I tried f11 to restore it again but it shuts down I see I quick message it says ; something like "c shutdown due to fan preventing CPU demage" I am not sure because it was so quick. So a was thinking that the fan of the CPU not cooling because of the dirt, I opened it it was durty I removed the fan cleaned it with air dust blower and put it back, in the mean time when I removed the fan I was curiouse to see the CPU I removed it take a look at it and put it back with out damaging a thing. So I put the cables back when I plug the power cord it turn on the system but nothing on the screen and with an orange power led like it is in sleep more tried to turn it off but it doesn't I had to remove the power cord and tried again ply the cord and the pc turns on the fans are all on working but nothing elese. Please what should I do? If you need more info reply to me thanks

Is the CPU Cooler attached properly? They can get loose after a while and the cpu cooler paste can basically melt away. Might be worth checking that out.

I had the same problem the screws werent perfect when attaching the cooler and it was fairly loose.... so I just used a cable tie to keep it in place. Risky I know but a temporary solution. :p

I think I attached it correctly just like it was before, and when I plug the power cord it work ok. The problem now is why When I plug the power cord it turn right away without pushing the power botton. I can't even turn it off. I have to pull the power cord again. Does this have to do with CPU or the fan? Weird

Since you removed the heatsink and cpu did you use new heatsink compound?
And if you did, did you clean the old compound off first?

Since you had the heatsink off of the cpu, you are going to have to clean the old heatsink compound off of the heatsink and cpu.

Then you have to apply NEW compound.

Put a drop about the size of a pea on the middle of the top of the cpu.
Put the heatsink back on.

Ok I get the compound used it but it still the same problem as soon as I plug the power cord the computer power up but nothing in the screen just the fans running. I can't even turn the computer off. How do I troubleshoot that? Is it the CPU shot? Or the motherboard or what ? Please help.

Try resetting the CMOS or your BIOS? There should be a jumper on your board to do that. Did you put the heatsink back on correctly, is it actually pushing down on the CPU and cooling it?

Take precautions for ESD? If not you may have fried your board or cpu or both...if the fans turn on and lights are on yet no one is home, id say your board may have died on you due to electrostatic discharge.

I will try to reset the cmos soon but how about ESD? How will I know if my mother board or cpu is fried?

You will know if ESD has affected it because it won't work. :D or if it's a video card you may get artifacts on the monitor.

I reset the Bios and cmos, and it's the same thing=> nothing.

"You will know if ESD has affected it because it won't work" what will not work? as I explained in the beginning all what the computer does is when i turn it on the fans start running and an orange light by the start button. i cant even turn it off i have to pull the power cord. nothing on the screen. so what's next how do I make sure it's the cpu or the mother f ah sorry the motherboard.thanks

cpus dont usually go bad,so maybe your cpu will work with another motherboard, buy another motherboard, and if it still doesnt work, get another cpu.
