6670 on 300w?

Hey guys thanks to the help I recieved here I am upgrading my current graphics card to a 6850 on my PC.

A question though, I have sold my old HP Pavilion p6300uk to a friend, and they are interested in getting their hands on my 6670 card that I am replacing.

Would the Sapphire 6670 run on the p6300uk's 300w power supply?

I have looked online and found various answers so I think its a bit of a grey area due to the PSU.

What do you guys think? Would there be any problems?

Here are the specs of the PC concerned:

It CAN run but it's not the best idea in the world. My friend is running a 6670 on a 280watt out of a Dell machine. Again, I highly recommend getting something more powerful though.

Ah right OK thanks for that, maybe I shouldnt risk it.

Is it worth noting that I have had a 5570 in the same machine for a while previously? I know the power draw wasnt quite the same... but still?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to know as much as possible from people who have a little more experience than me!

A 6670 has 20 watts more power draw than a 5570, but that 5570 might have aslready been pushing the psu to its max.So, listen to us, really not a good idea, crashes, system power offs, damage to the gpu are very possible issues.

Not just damage to your gpu. Push your luck to far and say good bye to a few components if your unlucky.

OK then I don't think I will be doing that then, think that pretty much settles it for that card, thanks for the advice.

Would anyone suggest an alternative card? One that doesnt require a PSU change?

6670 requires a 400 watt supply at minimum, so add that wattage to the draw of all your other components and see if it goes over or stays under. If under, you can get the card - if not, then you can't.

Wattage needed depends on components in your system. Use this tool to figure out what exactly you need. Great brand though, my favorite so far.

OK thanks again for the advice everyone

EDIT: didnt see the post about the PSU calculator, I have used that in the past and I think according to my specs, it only just made it, which is cutting it a bit fine I suppose?
