the physics in MW are terrible, but it's so much damn fun. I might have to dig out my copy again and give it a blast. Either that or Underground 2.

I've got Underground 2 as well. MW and U2 are the two NFS games I have. I did have the original Shift but I sold it. :D

Is that related to Flatout Ultimate Carnage? I've played that and it was OK.

It's flat out UC but with a little worse graphics. Actually it's exactly the same game, except for the graphics. I never played UC because i finished fo2 , and it wasn't worth it going though the game again only for the graphics.
Don't try Flat Out 3 though, it's pure garbage.

I'd prefer a proper racing game/simulator such as GRID or Shift 2 or Forza 4 (I know Forza is only for the 360, I have it though). I do like my arcade racers though, but this time I'm looking for a simulator.

NFS MW is OK. It's an old game so the graphics aren't the best (but they're not bad considering it's a 7 year old game) and the physics are very weird, and it doesn't work well with the Xbox 360 controller which I use and I hate using the keyboard to play racing games. :/

On no planet are Grid, Shift 2 or Forza sims, no way in hell. Grid handles nothing like and has AI nothing like the real thing, same goes for every single NFS game, Shift included and whilst Forza is probably the best you will get on a console, it is still nothing like a proper racing sim.

Do you have a game cube?
Nope. I play those games on my older Athlon 64 system. :)

Did have several PS2s once upon a time though.

I wasn't too impressed with Ultimate Carnage to be honest so I think I'll avoid anything that's related to it.

Yeah I agree with you. I feel that Forza lacks a sense of speed personally. After having played on Dirt 3 for several hours and then going onto Forza, Dirt felt a lot faster even though I was going faster on Forza, you get me?

I should have really said "driving game that is not an arcade racer" perhaps?

I'll probably end up getting Grid and Shift 2 as they're so cheap from Amazon. Shift 2 is like 7 quid and Grid is a fiver. I'll see if I can download a demo of each before I buy.

Ok :)

Has anybody here actually played on Shift 2? I know Aastii said the handling of the cars can be a bit weird in it...

Handling Grid is weird, handling in Shift 2, I found it the same as Grid and the same as every other NFS game, the back end is far too slippy. I much prefer the handling on Shift to Grid though, far tighter, even with it being extremely slippery.

Have you got or played F1 2010 or 2011? They are incredible racing games. 2011 has much improved AI which makes the game solid, as well as improved physics making the cars more difficult to control (MUCH more difficult), but both are so fun

Sorry about the late reply. No I haven't played F1 2011, I've heard they're good games though so I'll take a look into them. I'll most likely get Grid of Shift 2 though. If they're both sort of the same I'll get the one which has better graphics (Shift 2 I imagine?)

Sounds pretty cool mate but right now I'm after a decent racer. ;)

Oblivion is a good game i have to admit! (its the prequel to skyrim, btw jason seeing as your playing that a bit, might help understand the story)

Anyway, racing games, ever heard of Blur, more of an arcade racing game but great great fun, good enjoyable campaign and it has multiplayer, i got it for about £4 on steam sale, otherwise its 15 quid but id reccomend it, fast paced action, (blowing cars up with powerups etc).

Otherwise get a racing wheel for xbox/PC and get one of the F1 games :D

I may have a look into it if it's good. I've heard that it is meant to be pretty good. :) I don't play all that much Skyrim to be honest. I reinstalled my PC the other night and I haven't actually reinstalled any of my games yet, so I must do that sometime soon. :)

Yep I have heard of Blur. Played it on an Xbox 360 and a PS3 in the past round friend's houses. I thought it was OK but I didn't think it was anything amazing. I preferred Split Second I think, but maybe Blur would be better on the PC? Too bad all my mates are console gamers. :(

Got a wheel for the X360/PC already. It's OK but not brilliant. I prefer using the controller. Maybe I just need to get used to the wheel though?

I used to have a wheel for Grand Turismo on PS2! Took me a while to get used to but eventually mastered it :p.

-COD4 (community is dying so we need more players and need to spread the awesomeness of cod4 around again!)l
Don't worry! As soon as I build my computer I'm getting COD4 :D.

I'd have to recommend Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Definitely not a serious track racer, but a whole lot of fun especially if you're into the multiplayer. The Run is an okay single player experience but is pretty short and the multiplayer is no good at all.

That was one which I was thinking about.

So possibly looking to get GRID, NFS HP and maybe Split Second. Total cost will probably be £20-£25.
