Apple iPad Mini SpyShot

Definitely going to sell for at least $400. The new iPod touch is $300.

And this is if the iPad Mini is real. I'm still holding out that it would be stupid for Apple to make an iPad Mini.

Why do you think it would be stupid? For the fact that Steve said no one would want a tablet that small, or because they realized how well smaller Android tablets are selling and want to make one of their own?

Because of app fragmentation. Additional screen sizes and devices just gives developers bigger headaches. It's bad enough with the new iPhone and iPod touch screensizes.

They shouldn't be coding with fixed screen resolutions anyways, no other platform has that (except maybe Windows Phone 7).

And what makes you think that? Because of Android's excessive fragmentation, with an app store full of apps that may not be compatible with your device?

Not really. There will be no issue with fragmentation if the resolution is the same as the iPad 1 and 2. The new iPhone screen resolution is hardly a minor headache for developers.

I would imagine the price would be around $250. Apple have been very smart about iPad pricing, and they're the only company that can fork out billions for exclusive manufacturing priority. 10" Android tablet makers still can't beat the iPad on price and make money.

Really? Doesn't make sense to have an iPod touch cost more than an iPad mini.

Why not? It's a much smaller device with similar internals to a tablet; so the manufacturing cost is going to be higher.

To consumers it won't make sense, I mean. Most people aren't going to realize the manufacturing costs are higher, they're just going to look at the physical size of the unit at first glance.

It will be much higher then 200 or even 250. It's simple economics. Apple product buyers are very loyal to the company, thus making all of there goods very inelastic. This means that even if they charge significantly higher for any of there products, they will only lose a small amount of customers, and thus make a good deal of money.

Android on the other hand is a very elastic product. There is a very competitive market, and as such it means that all manufacturers have to price very conservatively, because if they charge too much sales will drop significantly.
