Is this tablet okay?

Okay, I'm set for my phone upgrade next may and I plan on switching to Android, not that I hate iOS or anything but if I need to use it I can use my iPhone 4. All I want is a tablet to try out the OS and help make the final decision. This is a cheap tablet with the Play Store (Which is the full Android app store's name now right?) and the specs aren't terrible so I'd say it's okay. Does anything stand out?

If there's something wrong with that one can you suggest one with these requirements?
-4.0 or higher
-Expandable with memory cards to 32gb approx
-Android official App Store
-Under or around $100 USD

I don't know what the performance of that processor is but it's probably OK for your stated use. Be aware that the screen resolution is fairly low (800*480) as compared to something like the Nexus 7 (1,280 x 800).

I noticed, for such a small screen that wouldn't look TOO bad right? I can't find one for that price point that has a better screen and all of the requirements I listed.

That tablet is $172??

I suggest you have a look at Ainol Novo 7 Mars
I could have sworn when I looked at the listing yesterday it said $72. At $172, I'd rather get the Nexus 7 for $199.

That Ainol Novo 7 Mars tablet is pretty similar but has more RAM (1G vs 512M) and higher screen resolution. The Ainol tablet specifically states that it doesn't have Bluetooth or GPS, the Mid doesn't mention so probably the same, so if either of those are important to you then these tablets aren't what you want.

Should work for your needs but as a disclaimer not all apps in the play store may be available. If system specs don't hit the app requirements then it wont be available for download.

I have just read Google planing to release a low end tablet at $99 in US in Dec.
The spec would similar with these cheap tablet. But I would assume you would have better warranty and support. You may want to hold on.

It was at 72, but that's not a problem, tablets just like that are listed every day, I'm just saying there shouldn't be any ridiculous problems with a tablet like that?

I don't think there is anything glaringly bad about the tablet it's just that you pretty much get what you pay for (with the exception of Apple products).

If I were you I'd get the Nexus 7. You're just going to get problems with a $100 tablet.

Like I said, I don't want to put any money in to this this is simply to test out android, I don't plan on running any heavy games or anything, it's to get used to the OS.

Well you're going to get some very bad impressions from a $100 tablet. Find a store that carries Android devices and play with it there.

$100 tablet, you minus well grab a used iPod touch. Bump your offer up and grab the g7 Nexus 8GB. It's awesome.

The whole point of the tablet is to test out android, and as I said I have an iPhone 4, so no, getting an iPod wouldn't solve anything.

All I was looking for was something cheap to test out android. Are there any decent phones that fill my requirements that I could find on eBay for like 150 or less?

Buying a bottom-of-the-barrel tablet like that isn't going to give you a good representation of Android; regardless of how you want to use it. Save up and get the cheapest Nexus 7. You'll be much happier that way.

+1

That would like me buying a 1st gen ipod touch to try and test out iOS, yeah it might seem okay but it will be nothing like buying a more current model (somewhat new)
